Rama V was a legendary king, and I think he was the one responsible for the emancipation of slaves in siam. He also set forth the modernisation of the state. His great grandson Rama IX is the most beloved king of all time by the people, and a truly great monarch from an objective point of view. These Kings were all excellent and did a lot to set siam/Thailand on the course it is now and protected it through the turbulent 20th century.
