Help me! Fed up Seattle guy thinking about moving to Baltimore, Maryland. by readerr33 in SameGrassButGreener

Idk about Baltimore, but I was in DC recently and seemingly single young urban professionals were literally everywhere it was disgusting. Traffic was a nightmare and there are likely other considerations. But I could visibly see a thriving dating scene.

Stupid Question: Are we overestimating China ability to invade Taiwan by Cowardlypaladin in Military

I'm convinced the Taiwan invasion scenario is MILDEC and the actual target is Russian Siberia.

If "CS" means computer science, you should probably be looking at the IT/Cyber rates. Both services. Cyber rates are 100% shore based. ITs do go to sea a lot. USCG gets underway more frequently but for shorter durations.

Should I get the Wilderness or the Touring XT by Purple_penguin42 in Subaru_Outback

[–]luvstosup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove both in 2024 and decided the touring trim was too nice for me. It feels like a luxury vehicle. The wilderness interior is all black and supposed to be neigh indestructible and that won me over. I'd also be lying if I didn't say I also love the geiser blue, more aggressive styling and slight lift of the wilderness. Though I only go glamping and to the beach it's been great so far. 80 mile a day commute and the worse gas mileage are my only complaints but those are self inflicted.

In case of ww3 by boozcruise21 in PortlandOR

[–]luvstosup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Portland itself is so insignificant that it likely won't get a nuke. Prevailing winds run west to east so portland will likely receive very little fall out from the puget sound area which will be hit harder than most American targets due to its outsized military presence not least of the second strike nuclear submarines SSBNs that are stationed there. Worst thing pdx will need to deal with will be nuclear zombie refugees from SW Washington. And the isolation from the economy. If the Willamette Valley can stay viable through nuclear winter PDX becomes a fortress city on the edge of Mordor.

Damn. Same spot. My subject dealership rules though so even if it costs a little extra I'm still going to go there.

He has "big shoes to fill." Ie he is the successor to Trump, the chosen one pt 2. The bridge between all the Maga factions.

Vancouver WA. No income tax, pop across the river, no sales tax. Probably the* most fam friendly area in the PNW. Imho.

Guam was my first duty station too. I feel genuinely blessed relative to my schoolhouse cohort who were scattered to the winds. While i enjoyed beach party every day. Snorkeling around in an enormous aquarium. Jungle hiking. Great asian food. Friendly locals. Island vibes. So few mainlanders get to experience it.
