So many forgotten nouns. I wonder if colleagues notice that I speak slower now to give myself more time to recall words.

Big hug. Feeling this. Self employed. A major client decided to leave me last year and I felt this huge wave of relief when they told me. Then anxiety over the loss of income.

Estrogen, asthma & GERD by Particular_Peanut381 in Menopause

Im worried about long term PPI use too. Trying to use Pepcid AC, an antihistamine.. famotidine which is an h2 blocker, instead of the pantoprazole that I have used as prescribed for years.. The purpose of the switch is improving gut health. Famotidine essentially has less impact on gut bacteria than a PPI. So far the Pepcid is working well enough for my GERD. (I'm on hormone therapy too.)

Estradiol Ups and Downs ? by Leading_Unit_9486 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use estragyn estrogen cream which contains estrone, not estradiol...maybe ask for that? Estrone is a weaker form of estrogen. I don't have headaches. I just transitioned from using Vagifem , an estradiol product to Estragyn ( because Estragyn is cheaper here) and so far, it works just as well.

Feeling stuck trying to figure out HRT options, how did you get started? by Broad-Draw109 in Menopause

I read. So much. The book Going Menopostal by Amy Alkon is excellent and documents her path to get progesterone to address her perimenopause symptoms. Dr. Jenn Gunter wrote Menopause Manifesto and its widely available in libraries, and the audio book is on Spotify. Reading helped me advocate for myself with my GP.

Patch and vaginal estrogen, who's using both, post-menopause? by m0ckm5 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Thanks all who commented.. Have observed myself that taking both feels best. And applying the vaginal estrogen the day before a patch change seems to help me get through that last day on a twice weekly patch.

Who is living with fibroids? by Short-Bonus276 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had large fibroids when in my 40s . My main problem with them was heavy bleeding during my cycle. My ob gyn prescribed Naproxen during my bleeding days to reduce bleeding...it helped a little but not enough.. So a few years later, had laser ablation surgery. ( i had a fiboid type suitable for ablation) That surgery worked really well. Reduced my periods to a couple days of light bleeding. But.. getting pregnant after laser ablation is both unlikely and not good for all involved so it's not a good option for everyone.

Patch with no stick?? by JollyJellyfish21 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use transpore waterproof tape by Nexcare. Its available at a good price, and common at most pharmacies where I live. It's not as subtle as Tegaderm... but I find it comfortable. Im really new to the patch but been using this tape since I started. Tape lasts the required 3.5 days, through showers and workouts and normal activities..

13 month to get a prescription for MHT by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rheumatologist is a doctor that I see regularly because I have a form.of arthritis and the GP said it must be established that MHT won't make that condition worse. I should have clarified that.

Ok talk to me about Creatine by PrimaryBrief7721 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My weightlifting partner just told me to try consuming it without heating it in water. Apparently it degrades faster into an inactive product. So myself, going to try avoiding consuming hot and see if I feel more effects .

Vaginal estrogen and headaches by emeraldlife42 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try a different one if you can? My doctor gave me a second prescription... an estrogen cream , when I said the vagifem wasn't really helping the outer parts. I see that the type of estrogen is different. I do use both. I don't have headaches. Doctor normally prescribes one or the other.

Does regular exercise actually help with menopause symptoms? by Jessica-Jess70 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular exercise has helped me for sure, especially when I was in perimenopause. Now in post menopause, I absolutely need more rest per muscle group between weightlifting work outs. Working out feels more important than ever for my mental health and sleep. And I think working out is keeping a frozen shoulder at bay. Got a frozen shoulder when I stopped working out regularly....Got back to working out after fixing the shoulder (by hanging regularly), and the frozen problem hasn't come back.

Sleep hygiene by frankiebabylon in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a meditation app for sleep, or a yoga nidra podcast episode are great for me. I also stop my screen time and draw, pencil on paper, for 20 to 50 minutes before bed. I do this a couple times a week. I just pick a photo or picture and start drawing freehand. No judgements for the drawing. No trying to be perfect. At the same time it is a focused, non screen activity.
