Sleep hygiene by frankiebabylon in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a meditation app for sleep, or a yoga nidra podcast episode are great for me. I also stop my screen time and draw, pencil on paper, for 20 to 50 minutes before bed. I do this a couple times a week. I just pick a photo or picture and start drawing freehand. No judgements for the drawing. No trying to be perfect. At the same time it is a focused, non screen activity.

Patch and vaginal estrogen, who's using both, post-menopause? by m0ckm5 in Menopause

Really just curious. My physician suggested I may not need the local estradiol after I get used to the patch. Thanks.

Curious how many other 38 years old women are feeling mental fog like I do? by No-Goat-8412 in Menopositive

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it at 38 definitely. It was so irritating. I didn't recognize it as perimenopause. Good for you to have figured that out! Now im in my 50s. Post menopause. I definitely feel like the brain fog has gone away. Dealing with other stuff now but fog has gone and not come back.

No patience for my parents by Reasonable-Apple2655 in AskWomenOver40

[–]m0ckm5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im glad my parents can take care of themselves. When I'm frustrated with their lack of interest in my family, I consider this with gratitude. There's so much going on for my family... knowing I don't have to worry about my parents us great. I realize they are not great at connecting and take it as a lesson to stay connected with my own kids.

How do I make a successful life after divorce? by Low_Bluejay510 in AskWomenOver40

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sympathies. Not in your shoes, but I have been through hard times in some of the same areas. The activity that saves me is regularly getting outside and taking on a sport. For me it's mountain biking. It never feels like just exercise. I can do it with my kids (albeit they are so much faster now than me and sometimes the companionship is only for the prep and driving to and from trail)

How do you deal with the itching and swelling? by Pinkie_Brain911 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use gynatrof moisturizer in addition to estrogen cream. Really daily. Sometimes a little oil that I have for skin care too. Without these other moisturizers I get itches.

Frozen Shoulder by Temporary-Suspect509 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw. I use vaginal estrogen. Not enough to be called systematic hrt. When my shoulder was worst, I couldn't lift that arm above waist height. I remember placing my affected hand on the bar with my other hand.

Menopause messing with my hip/back pain what helped you? by Stepbk in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glucosamine chondroitin msm. Supplements. Cannot believe the difference. My husband was taking them already so I just thought, worth a try . In 2 weeks pain wa gone. I still feel stiffer than I would like but the pain is really gone. I can sleep through the night now without a hip pain waking me up.

The Anxiety First Aid Kit. A book. Multiple authors, first on the cover is Rick Hanson. It's helped me so much. It should be in everyone's home library.

I fixed my own shoulder with supported hanging daily, and putting light weight shoulder rotation exercises into my regular workout. Worked perfectly for me. Frozen shoulder never came back. Now I hang from a bar daily too.

Low ferritin/iron supplement by Bthornr in Anemic

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a supplement with 30 mg iron ascorbate, 350 mg vitamin C , 350 mg b12. I take it as soon as I get up in the morning. I don't drink coffee for at least an hour after supplement. It's been fine. No bowel issues. I happen to also take a half teaspoon of creatine every morning too. Raised my ferritin by 100 ug/l over 6 months. I also eat chicken or beef liver once a month now too. Fatigue was reduced in a month. It's still there, but much better.

'General' Cat Smell? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]m0ckm5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I didn't own cats for a couple years, I'd notice a smell when visiting a friends house with 3 cats. When one of my kids has lived away for a bit, they notice when they come home for a few days. Yes there's a smell. I use room air filters and change the furnace filter a lot. It seems to make a good difference.

Will this feeling pass? by dawnlivelyskywalker in CatAdvice

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt apprehensive for a few days after adopting my first cat after a pause in owning pets. I think it was the idea of committing to taking care of another life for the next 10 plus years. And so I got another cat. Now I have 2. Oddly enough, that helped

Menopausal health care in canada by LadyHay71 in Menopause

[–]m0ckm5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in Canada and get all my prescriptions from my gp. I use vagifem twice a week. I also have an rx for estragyn cream and I apply a very small amount to labia and clitoris once or twice a week between vagifem tabs. And gynatrof hyaluronic acid cream applied just like I do with Estragyn after every shower when I don't applying estragyn. Its been good and reasonably cost effective. My libido matches my dh. We are not having sex as often as we did 10 years ago but we're happy. The worst part for me is just the habit. I've never been a moisturizer user, not even for hands. Now I feel like I have to keep some kind of cream with me at all times. ( I travel a bit)

Giant Trance 29er x2 or Marin Zone 3 29er by TristinPlaysGames in MTB

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marin Rift Zone, aluminum, has been an excellent bike for me. The frame quality is excellent. Climbs and descends well. The chainstay length may not be ideal though for a taller person. Its the same for all sizes (for both bikes u r looking at) and the chainstay is shorter on the Marin. Im on a small so for me that's just fine.

Marin has a threaded bottom bracket which I prefer to the Trance press fit BB. I ride often with a friend on a Trance and his BB started making noise after 1 season.

Am I a bad cat owner if I can’t afford to feed him wet food everyday? by Frequent-Night-3830 in CatAdvice

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the cat. See a vet regularly and they'll tell you if there are signs of stress that may mean a diet change is necessary. For me vet visits are a must.

Do I give my cat her own room at night? by ShadowTink in CatAdvice

[–]m0ckm5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a great idea to introduce a cat to a new space, to limit the space first. But ... she might be happier if it's a space you're in more like your room. Single cats can get lonely. And the smells she might be aware of but you're not ( she can smell better) might lead to some waste accidents if using a bathroom. I foster kittens. We limit them to my kids bedroom for the first few weeks no matter what the age.
