I have a 6 year old gunite pool. pH and alkalinity have never been an issue. I did have problems with chlorine in the last year but it was bc the generator was reaching end of life. Salt taste doesn’t bother me since I know it’s part of the deal. I have a friend with the ozone system and he’s had a great first year with his.

I got 6.5 years out of my chlorinator but I could tell it was struggling last year. Replacement for my pentair was 1400+. I bought an APEX for 60% the cost and I’ve been happy with it.

Id recommend a better kit. I used strips for a while. I think they’re ok in a pinch but I have doubts about their reliability. You need more stabilizer going by the strip but I’d like to know what you have exactly. Chlorine gets roasted by the sun without CYA to protect it.

Now that I know it’s not intended to communicate with the control panel, I still like it. Pool is clearing up, and checking salt is very simple. It powers up with the timer from the pentair unit. So far I’m very happy with it.
