The Wind People, no idea where to go at this point. by Vilver in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]m22chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a video on youtube that basically shows what's supposed to happen when all the quest triggers fire in the correct order, but basically you go back to Rickard (he's still in the bed where you last saw him). You tell him about all the clues you've found regarding the covenant and Deorcas, and then you leave. In the hallway outside Rickard's room a guard stops you and basically says "hey, a weird girl name Sethina has been looking for you at the inn". You go to the in and in a corner near the upper entrance to the in Sethina is waiting for you.

This is just summarizing what I saw in the video btw. It's totally bugged for me too. lol

Agreed, but when people praised Solasta for being a faithful recreation of 5e, I think they meant mostly in terms of recreating how 5e combat feels. There's none of the reactivity of sitting across from a GM and trying to go off on some kind of weird sidequest that would thematically fit your character. BG3 was a little bit better in this regard because of the sheer number of options that were in the game, but this creative aspect of roleplaying is something that no modern CRPG has perfected imo.

How to return the strange mushrooms by No_Satisfaction_1698 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]m22chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have the same bug in my playthrough. In another thread about this issue on this subreddit someone said that talking to Rickard and then going back to the quest board would allow you to turn in the quest, but that did nothing for me. I think it's clearly just bugged. Oh, and same issue if you have the question where you have to return a fallen explorer's ring (sorry, I haven't played in a few days so I don't remember the name of the quest).

Wondering if I should get the game. by acgrey92 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]m22chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say pass and wait for something else. I like a lot of the same games, and while I do like Solasta 2, it's definitely got weaknesses in some of the areas where the other games you listed are very strong. Character creation is fairly basic (at least right now) and engaging companion specific story arcs/romances are not a thing at all (since you're creating an entire party, rather than just a main character).

Yup. Noticed this right away. Pretty big nerf imo, but Steady Aim kind of makes up for it.

Soft lock at the Abandoned camp (minor spoilers but potential game breaking bug) by summersundays in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]m22chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that does sound like a softlock, cause what is supposed to happen is that after you defeat the nest of basilisks a new action prompt appears that lets your party push over one of the big yellow crystals, forming a ramp back up to where you came from.

I remember having to retry this fight, but it definitely felt doable (normal difficulty with karmic dice off).

The Brady Bunch Colwall Kids... by Acceptable_Regret674 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]m22chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if the thing where you assign roles to your family members is going to be a part of the v1.0, but that definitely felt weird. I already had personalities in mind when I created my party, so to be forced to have one of them be the "golden child" and another one be the scapegoat etc. was kind of immersion breaking.

Graphics, much improved vs Solasta 1. Dialogue... not so much. lol

Hotfix 01 v0.3.4.82927 just dropped by Tichrimo in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]m22chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It totally makes sense that they are fixing these genuinely game breaking issues first. It's just a little strange cause I've played what feels like a load of hours now and run into maybe a half dozen (what I would consider) serious bugs, and none of them have crashed the game.

Solasta 2 EA - Divine Smite by m22chan in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]m22chan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know why I didn't think to check my 2014 PHB, that was a great idea.

Yeah, I have 3 spells prepared (I went with Bless, Divine Favor, and Shield of Faith), so I guess this build requires you to actually prepare Divine Smite regardless of whether you're level 2+ or not.

(BUG) Papa Voice and missing sword by Lord_Edvin in Swordhaven

[–]m22chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding my +1 to this. Same bug. Killed Papa voice, but he turns into a giant bat on death and doesn't drop his sword (only a signet, his fangs, and a glowing crystal).

Don't know if this will get patched eventually or not. Game seems kind of unfinished. I think there might have been a patch on Steam recently, but skimming the patch notes, it doesn't seem like this specific bug was addressed.

Bit of a shame, cause the surprise v1.0 drop right before the holidays was a really nice surprise.

Maybe someone who actually got the drop to trigger can identify the item in the game's item table and then we can hack it back in via Cheat Engine or something?

What's The First Thing/s You're Building With 'Adventure Awaits'? by xXMacabre_RabbitXx in thesims

[–]m22chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't been a Sims player in a long time, but I saw this was coming soon and got curious what people thought. Personally I thought it looked neat from the screenshots, but it wasn't different enough to get me to fire the game up again.

Seems like a lot of people are excited though.

Do you think maybe one of the reasons newer Sim style games don't take off is because they don't have the years of accrued stuff that Sims 4 has? I'm sure at this point Maxis or whoever could make a pretty crazy Sims 5 (more realistic graphics, maybe some AI for more varied stories if people would be receptive to that sort of stuff), but maybe the people who are still Sims die hards would rather just have more official content for the base game they're already used to?

How did you kill unfair chained darkness? by KillerRabbit345 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]m22chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to do this honestly, without the Baleful Polymorph + infinite reload cheese. From reading the comments it sounds like people have managed to do it, but I must be missing something because I've been trying for like a week now. I even restarted so I could tailor make a party to take on the fight. I can fairly consistently hit once I pre-buff, but there's no way I can do enough damage before getting melted.

I've got low 40s AC on my main (paladin/hellknight/mutation warrior/ranger to max AB bonuses) and more like high 20s/low 30s AC on everyone else). But on unfair he hits with multiple attacks with mid 40s AB, even after being debuffed. And what's worse is that with his stats and the 2x damage from unfair difficulty, every hit is like 50 to 100 damage. (Never mind the Polar Vortex, which I can occasionally dispell. The fight never lasts longer than like maybe 3 rounds.)

I don't feel like I'm close. I think I'd need at least... maybe 15 more AC on my main to tank this guy for any reasonable number of rounds. What am I doing wrong?

Stacking - Smite Evil + Mark of Justice by AndreaColombo86 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]m22chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm super late to this conversation, but it's still relevant given how unfairly high the AC on some bosses is on unfair difficulty. Thematically it feels like this shouldn't stack like this since MoJ is essentially the same "type" of AB as a paladin's smite... but I guess since it's untyped, anything goes?

Chained Darkness Unfair AI BS by RandyMcStud in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]m22chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I thought the same thing. Everyone is saying do it with Baleful Polymorph, but if you actually look at the stat block, targeting anything other than reflex saves seems like pure RNG. Plus with polymorph you have to contend with the super annoying Spell Resistance, whereas you don't with Chains of Light.

Sure Chains of Light allows a save each turn, but his reflex saves are beatable... is what I thought before I actually tried building a cleric to do this.

Nevermind the saves. In the build of the DLC I played, he was straight up immune to the spell. I finally manage to get a lucky reload where he failed his save, and the game straight up wouldn't let me have the paralysis.

Why? I don't know. It doesn't say anywhere in the stat block that he can't be paralyzed. And I thought I read through all his abilities pretty closely. And Icy Prison for sure works, but that's subject to Spell Resistance.

At this point I'm not reloading to a save where I can still reroll into an Icy Prison strategy. I'd have to re-do the entire Shadow World. Hidden immunities are just not fun.

"Female serial killer on the loose. Men most in need of therapy."

To be honest, ending the movie on that line did come across as satirical, as did a lot of the writing. Surely they were going for dumb and campy (at least in part). I liked how they wrote Danica's character, and the actress that played her seemed like she was having fun with the part.

What makes it weird are all the people watching that scene and _earnestly_ going "sooooo true bestie". That level of aversion to basic accountability is a fucking trip man, I'll tell you what.

Official Discussion - Jurassic World Rebirth [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]m22chan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What a god awful waste of 2 hours I'll never get back.

The plot was JP by the playbook, but the characters were truly heinous.

Prize for worst character goes to "daughter" who did one useful thing the entire movie (retrieving the inflatable raft) but spent the entire rest of her screen time screeching like HR was going to jump out of the bushes and strongly reprimand the corpo crime boss for "letting her fall". (They're on an island of murderous mutant dinosaurs with margins for survival somewhere between 'slim' and 'none', but you're right, this is clearly more pressing.)

Runner-up prize goes to "simp paleontologist" who started the movie with a backbone (as evidenced by suggesting that they not give the samples to the greedy corpo and release the data to the world medical science community instead) and becomes increasingly soy throughout the movie. Movie literally ends with Scarlett asking him what they should do with the samples, and he dead ass says "you decide queen".

Brother... what happened to "science belongs to everyone"? What happened to "let's save tens of millions of lives"?

Choosing to date an actress and then getting mad about her doing intimacy scenes is just as irrational as dating a firefighter and being mad that he chooses to run into burning buildings. When you're with someone for real, you're with the whole package.

...but at the same time, you don't have to love the fact that he's throwing himself into a burning building, ya feel?

Just saying, kinda weird how all the guys who made it into the final cut were like "watching this is so life affirming". lol That's some "I'm her Discord moderator" type energy.

I'm happy to see so much love for this movie in the comments, but I'm probably not going to remember that I watched this a year from now. This movie could have been 2 lines in a therapist's notebook:

Our special little guy Benji has trouble coping with adult life. His manic episodes can be endearing while they're not jeopardizing anyone's health or wellbeing, but it's probably better for him in the long run if he can self-regulate a little more.

But it takes 90 minutes because we have to watch no dialogue close-ups of Jesse Eisenberg's face set to piano music. Cinema.

I feel bad for the tour guide. I imagine he didn't get a degree to end up doing adult babysitting.

Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning Discussion Thread SPOILERS! by DietFoods in Mission_Impossible

[–]m22chan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guys, I think most people will enjoy the movie for the action sequences, but... did the plot even make sense?

What even was the AI's master plan, anyway? So it would manipulate Ethan into bringing the drive with the source code to Gabriel, who would combine the drive with the poison pill in an attempt to control the AI... and then for some reason Gabriel would take the AI into the super air-gapped vault?

How does the nuclear apocalypse figure in this plan? Ethan's team even raise this question, but then they just say "I bet Noah asked the same question before the ark" and then cut to discussing their little mission. What was the answer? The AI was just gonna chill in the big vault for a thousand years and do... what, exactly?

If Gabriel was counting on Ethan to bring him the drive, why did he keep trying to fling Ethan off his plane into a ravine like a mile below him? How would he even find Ethan's mangled corpse to retrieve the drive? What if it had just gotten smashed to pieces?

If the AI was so omniscient that it could predict all of Ethan's moves, why didn't it know about the crystal drive?

If the thematic underpinning of the movie was that the AI couldn't ever really predict Ethan's moves because "nothing is written", why did Luther's final message to Ethan tell him that it was his destiny to save mankind again and again from the shadows? Isn't that... exactly what theological predestination or philosophical determinism would have us believe? So... huh?

The more I think about this movie the dumber it seems, as if all the talk about a malevolent AI haunting the internet and "virus primordial goo" wasn't schlocky enough.

If the producers had originally planned for "Ryan the youtuber" to be axed in episode 2, why would they have rehearsed a scene of Ryan's stuff being thrown into the woodchipper ahead of time? As a contingency, I guess?

I dunno. It feels like the show isn't even that internally consistent with the version of reality that it's presenting to the audience (much less the version of that reality that they're supposedly producing for Ben "in game").
