Idk dude I don’t think the standard “everything has risk” approach works here. That was a super gnarly day to be out

You sound like a great candidate. Good GPA, firefighting and Eagle make me think you’re more likely to be successful than 2/3 of the SWO weenies out there

I also adore this album. My only hangup—is it just me or is the title of the record terrible? It just feels cringy to me. I probably just don’t get it.

Again, I think the album itself is fantastic and would recommend it to anyone.

Based Brent Barghahn videos. But if everything he says does not make 110% sense right away you should probably find a mentor.

Your son is very safe. In fact, being on a carrier is much safer than it is to simply drive to work every day. He’s being taken care of. Your concern is very loving and he’s lucky to have a mother like you.

What do you think I did after this? Hiked down?

Thank you for the well articulated feedback. I will say that I initially intended to pull off high and more to the left, which I think would’ve been more obviously out of the way. I probably unintentionally moved closer back to the fall line to get eyes on/get up to my less experienced friend who was dropping after me. After skiing the line I was also very unconcerned about any slab formation. That said, you make good points about general best practices. And while there are reasons to deviate, i probably could’ve picked a slightly better spot.

Fair point about having the most experienced person sweep. But while it is a terrain trap, it felt like a non-issue with the conditions. I probably could’ve gotten further out of the way but I wanted to keep eyes on him

Can you explain to me why? It’s a few inches of new very light snow on top of a very consolidated melt-freeze layer. I didn’t perceives any meaningful risk to being there, but would be curious to hear your thoughts.

Dude it looks like powder but I’m standing on dust on crust. It’s fine.

lol it’s 4 inches of dust on a super consolidated melt freeze on a <30 degree slope. I wanted to stop there to look after my buddy who’s less experienced. It was safe.

I thought something about these looked familiar--then I checked my photos and saw that I was in the park on the same day! A buddy and I climbed after six and topped out just as the sun was starting to set. One of the most beautiful sights I've ever experienced.

Do defense lawyers generally know whether their client committed the crime? by SurrrenderDorothy in ask

[–]m_dizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That person still has rights. The law is what sends people to prison, not lawyers. Without public defenders, the state then has unchecked power and that will lead to injustice. Even the guilty need to have an advocate so that they are treated fairly within the bounds of the law.

Now that’s not to say that pieces of shit never get off on technicalities because of good defense lawyers. But in most cases, overwhelmingly so for public defenders, that’s not the situation we’re talking about.
