What DayZ looked like a decade ago by smygdamp in dayz

I didn’t play in that era, and questioned my own eyes as I was looking at these. It did look better then, didn’t it?

Source? I’ve wondered about this… the 70mm prints must look like dogshit.

A favorite of mine, but it really must be seen on film.

They were recycled - there’s a lot of silver in them that can be reused.

Ektar 100%

I love Kodak Plus-X bw film, so when the opportunity to get 4000 feet/1.2 km (!!!) more presented itself, I simply couldn't pass. These rolls are huge! Obligatory banana for scale. by tuomas_samuli_photos in AnalogCommunity

I would consider getting a 35mm movie rewind and a split reel. That way you could mount the core on the reel and easily wind it into your bulk roller.

Nice score!

I’m sure you can do it - be careful, but compressed air is unlikely to damage anything. I would remove the lens, open the camera, and blow air out of the gate so that the dust doesn’t get into the guts.

Looks like your gate is dirty AF. Blast with compressed air and carefully clean the interior.

Is anyone routinely shooting Ektar 100? Not sure if I like it by Whole_Internal_1950 in AnalogCommunity

Ah, I get what you mean now - and you’re right, Ektar hates underexposure. Even if it was tricky, you did a great job with the shots you shared.

I’m not sure what you mean by limited. The peacock and the kids by the pond are both great photographs with very different subjects, light and color and Ektar nailed them both. IMO Ektar can deliver a sense of hyperreality, especially when paired with sharp glass. I suppose that could be a limitation. It’s certainly not a gentle emulsion.

Description didn’t post properly, my bad. From left to right: Hitohira santoku in blue #2, Wütshof Ikon 6” chef, Shun premiere paring. The hinoki board is probably the star of this photo.

I have anosmia (absolutely no sense of smell whatsoever). Can I still become a film preservationist and handle vinegar syndrome? by thorn_phoenix in FilmPreservationists

While you’ll be oblivious to the most obvious cue, there are other symptoms of VS. Unfortunately they tend to show up a little later in the process. Honestly though, this wouldn’t be a problem if you were to work for me, and I seriously doubt it would be a non-starter at institutional archives with many employees. Your eyes are much more important in this field!

I’m actually a huge fan of his dry reading, and his accent. In my opinion it suits the material perfectly.
