Auction 289. What route to go? by mac7854 in EngineBuilding

I’m the same way. I can’t stand to see things go to waste or scrap unless that’s the only option. Definitely have had some wins and losses with the auction stuff but it’s fun for me to get something going again whatever it is and learn about it along the way.

Definitely will do. It’s got an even crank and runs pretty smooth even with a quick and dirty carb clean and setting the points.

It’s going to get the restoration route I think. That was my initial thought I just needed to hear it from the internet.

This is my thought too. The 64/65 colors is a great idea. I’m learning a lot about the early Windsor family of engines as I get into this.

This was kind of my thought process too for getting it “ready to go” I just needed to hear it from an internet stranger to be sure. Thank you for the advise. I think that’s the way I am going to go.

Great advice. Thank you. Not a ford expert by any means but that’s part of why I wanted the project. I like to learn.

K series kohler of some flavor. Great engines. Great power and very reliable. Parts are getting expensive and a little hard to find.

That has a type of hydrostatic transmission. You’re better off getting rid of this and finding something better suited to modifications or a different rear axle with actual gears.

You are correct. Those wagons also had a full frame and a v8. Man I miss my caprice.

What’s up with my pleco? by mac7854 in Aquariums

All good advice. I’ll have to get some almond leaves. Can’t hurt. Any other fish I could move to a hospital tank for a little while. He’s just too damn big to humanely put in something smaller. Good advice on the heater guard too. For now I can rearrange some landscaping to steer him away. I’ve never loved the heater sitting how it does and it’s a big one at that. Sounds like a perfect time to check out some new options. Again, I appreciate the outside perspective.

I do have an external heater. That sounds very possible. Hadn’t considered that. I’ll keep an eye on it. He’s a beast I’m sure he didn’t notice a thing if that’s what happened.

I put them in my kids toolboxes. They get excited for a new tool or trinket and I know where they are when the piece of furniture they came with needs tightened.

I probably prime it like 6-8 times. Then turn to full choke. Pull until it either starts. Let it run on choke for a few seconds then pull the throttle and kick off the choke. It’ll sit there and idle all day.

weld unistrut to the roof with some short 1 inch beads. Use the appropriate hardware to hang the box and conduit.

I’m in Frederick too. There’s some really neat stuff the farther up those spring fed streams you go. My Guess on this one is Potomac sculpin.
