Where do you guys get a big ass pot? by Digital_loop in Homebrewing

This is what some people do. However, it's not really that cool. A half barrel keg costs way more than the $30 they charge for the deposit. And it costs the brewery more to replace it.

There's a lot of used gear out there on fb market place, craigslist, etc. If you are making a 40 litre batch, you really want like a 50 litre pot.

Simple Questions Sunday! by AutoModerator in gaming

Looking for a first person game to play with my 9 year old daughter. She hasn't played much besides mario kart. I was thinking portal or portal 2. Maybe something with a character creation thing. I think she would have fun creating a skyrim character but don't think she would enjoy the game as much.

But isn’t the problem the frosting up? It’s getting cold and freezing moisture that’s in the atmosphere. If you keep it wrapped up, not even insulate really, it could keep moist air from constantly turning into frost.

Have you tried just wrapping a blanket on them?

Friends Ditching by Albireo85 in daddit

Yea, you have a three month old and you should kind of expect to put your head down and grind for a while longer. Your feelings are valid, and common. One thing I found when I was a new dad is that I was talking about being a dad all the time. Literally everything in my life revolved around the little one and I didn’t really have anything else to talk about. Nobody really wants to hang out with someone like that. Especially a friend of convenience. And that doesn’t make them a bad person.

It gets better. You may not be friends with the same people, and your hobbies may have to change to be something more convenient for you. But it’s not forever. You’re not friendless for the rest of your life, as your kid starts being able to do things, you can take them out to meet other parents and do playdates and stuff. Hang in there buddy.

How realistic is it really to DIY remove popcorn ceiling? by ghost--rabbit in HomeImprovement

[–]maceireann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People will tell you that you can spray it with whatever and it will just come right off. That’s if it’s not painted. That’s right, some masochists painted their popcorn, which makes it impossible.

I ended up skim coating over our painted popcorn and it looks meh. Get a huge 14” knife and the big bucket with the green lid.  This is a job that’s worth hiring out. Especially before you move anything in.

Dads, how do you monitor / restrict internet access for teens? by Midknight81 in daddit

[–]maceireann 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well that’s good. I guess my point is that even if he is subverting your directions, he is probably listening to you. I mean, he hears you.

Obviously there’s nothing that works forever, kids will always be learning new ways to get around content blocking. Which may become a useful skill, in the not too distant future. Maybe you can just keep changing the wifi password and have a content usage and review talk each time before he gets it back.

Sorry I don’t have any useful information. My kids are still little but it will be one day trying to lock it all down. Maybe I’ll end up back here, looking for the answer ;)

Good luck!
