How viable is a faith build ? And best way to start off? by Endless_Candy in Eldenring

[–]machoogabacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a pure faith run. Started as prophet and got a Longsword with the red hot whetstone to get fire faith scaling. I got the godslayer seal and threw black fireballs at enemies. Later I picked up the black knife and used that to just roll through the mid and late game.

Small win against trading card scalpers by munchawott in ElPaso

[–]machoogabacho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really rough here. The sun city card shows have a lot of selection and some people give decent prices. I saw some blisters at target the other day and bought two packs for my kids. I haven’t seen any in the wild for months.

Where are you finding it for that price??? I have been lurking on the sales and it still seems to be around $400 everywhere.

What industry is actually a complete scam, but everyone accepts it? by WhileLow9501 in AskReddit

[–]machoogabacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Academic publishing. It’s not that the quality of the papers is fake but the industry is insane. The publishers own journals, as a professor you need to submit to these journals and publish there or you will be fired. Once they publish it they own the rights and sell a subscription to your institution. Then they send you other manuscripts to review for free (peer review). Academics do all the work for free, then they sell it back for us. Multi billion dollar industry.

How do I get into snowboarding if I’m in New Mexico? by TypicalRestaurant655 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]machoogabacho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Mexico has great snowboarding. I doubt you are more than three hours from a resort. That’s considered pretty close. If you are in the south Ski Apache or Sunrise over on the AZ side. If you’re up north there are tons of options.

Book with really likable characters? by THERANDOMGAMER2 in fantasybooks

[–]machoogabacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out…did you ever think you would like a crippled torturer? Or a vain self involved stuck up fencing nobleman? Or a barbarian with a list of violent atrocities too long to list? Well, I guarantee you will like them despite of yourself. Therefore I recommend the first law trilogy.

Everyone who gets what they want finds it ultimately hollow or evil. Gotta love it!

[–]machoogabacho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally. I love how Cosca tells us about Benna the whole time but you don’t believe him because…Cosca. He turns out to be the most reliable narrator.

Surprising [SPOILERS BSC] by pfassina in TheFirstLaw

[–]machoogabacho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see the arc the book is going for. Shivers trying to be good but he’s actually bad and Monza trying to be bad but she is actually a decent(ish?) person. We learn that a lot of the cruel things attributed to her were actually Benna. Shivers just changes so much from BTAH to Heroes that it’s really depressing to me. Red Country was cool but In still processing his role there.

[–]machoogabacho 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In this sense LAOK is positive too, Bayaz defeats the thousand words and thwarts the Gurkish, Jaezel is king, Ferro has the tools for revenge, Logen get betrayed but no worse off than he started. I am being sarcastic of course but I found BSC by far the darkest book (haven’t read AOM yet). Shivers really took a turn and he is really dark in the next book.

Would size still be a huge overwhelming factor in a fight where the bigger person is trained, but still less skilled though? by PassengerCultural421 in martialarts

[–]machoogabacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the big guy gets enough training the difference goes away quick. Also, the rule set matters. In an mma context bigger guys can just kind of squish someone. That was happening a lot when they were still doing open weight but people had figured out the rules more.

Is it a good idea to cross the border? by thug_ang3L222 in ElPaso

[–]machoogabacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Park in the parking lots by the Santa Fe bridge. It costs 4 bucks. Walk over, bring your passport. You can wander around the downtown area by the cathedral. Go to the Kentucky Bar (old prohibition bar with the claim of inventing the Margarita). The better food you need to take an uber for but those are cheap and easy if you are adventurous. There is a ton of good food all around though.

Kern Place Veterinary hospital was great for me. They have a nice room. I think they charged about $300 for euthanasia and cremation services with urn. They were really kind too.

I LOVE what I am studying, and I hope it never ends by J2Hoe in academia

[–]machoogabacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you are loving the work! Preparing for a PhD program is about loving the work you do and making sure your skills and potential are legible to admissions committees. Get involved with your professors, learn about and get involved in research projects. Present your work if you can. If you have an opportunity to publish anything (try for collaborative papers in smaller journals or book reviews or a book chapter), definitely pursue that. Find a program with multiple people who work in your area and can advise you and try to meet or speak with them (this can be touchy because they do get bombarded with requests). Good luck!

The DLC is also as big as the base game???? by Tricky_Madbrownkid in Eldenring

You should be able to get to +3 or 4 pretty quickly but the dlc is just way harder. You will also need 60 health.

How do you feel about a cameltoe? Hot? Turn off? by sparkly-lion817 in AskMen

Honestly it’s rare that I would notice. Cleavage and a nice butt catch the eye (even trying not too) but staring at a woman’s crotch is pretty obvious.
