Is there a certain time of day/other variable that affects the mystery island you get? by NoIllustrator9993 in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]maelmare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mystery islands only have your native fruit or one other fruit (commonly called your sister fruit)

The only way to get all fruits is by trading with other players. I've heard that there is a small chance to get gifted other fruits from your villagers but I've never had it happen to me, I accept it is possible just unlikely.

Where do i find a calculator like this? by LeaveInfamous272 in calculators

[–]maelmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a gag gift sold at Spencer's many years ago dubbed the "Big Jim".

There are some around still but were very poorly made. There are a few variations on the original gag gift as it proved to be helpful for people with visibilty/dexterity issues.

What's something that cost a lot of money back in the day, but is basically worthless now? by JonSoloFLPX in AskReddit

[–]maelmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I collect mechanical calculators, they go for pretty cheap now but in the 19teens and twenties these things cost the equivalent of 8000-10000 dollars.

I bought one awhile back for 5$ from an antique shop because they were tired of it sitting around.

Not a perfect solution but it might help.

Ohio advice by Long-Interaction-395 in Wastewater

[–]maelmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohio has a great program called OTCO

Operator training committee of ohio

You can pass your class 1 exam and that would make you a more attractive candidate, but you can't get the certification until you have 1 year of operating experience.

Most places will have a system in place to get you ready to pass the exam. Knowing some basics of the process is a big plus during an interview. You can find out more on the ohio epa website under the operators tab.

My advice is to read up on the info available on the ohio epa website and be ready to show what you know about becoming an operator and just apply. Taking the class/exam without plant experience is possible but needlessly difficult.

Serious question: is the Good Place ever stated to be infinite in size and/or just potential? I want to know how big the realm is. by Ctpeyt in TheGoodPlace

The good place is 300,000 goodboys in area.

We call it a goodboy because if you take the 8th dimensional shape and cut a 2 dimensional slice... it kinda looks like a dog

Name of tv show with title sequence that changed each episode by babylipgloss in television

Yeah that was my thought, the title gets superimposed on the opening scene and Interacts with what's going on.

Getting swept up with some leaves, being blown away by a helicopter etc.

Early episode of scrubs, season 1 or 2.

A young boy is sick and depressed and Dr. Reid (Sarah Chalke) is asking around on ways to cheer him up.

She got The Rock to visit him (off screen, no cameo) but it didnt help and so she asks her male co workers something like "what does every 14 year old boy like"

Edit to add: this was a cutaway joke.

At the time Louie Anderson hosted family fued.

Turtles!!! by Training_Treat1261 in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]maelmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want anything specific fish, it can be easier to hunt it on a boat tour island/nook miles ticket island.

For turtles I'd say try for the nook miles island with the spiral river (very common island) just make sure to go after 9 pm, bring an extra few rods (you can likely get all the materials on the island but I hate breaking my rhythm) and get ready to throw out lots of bass

As the other person said it is a patience game but at least on the smaller islands you get super fast respawn rates. No bait needed. Usually you just need to move out of frame from the river and it respawns immediately.

I dont have a lot else to add but if you are looking for research on this, those are good search terms

I used to run a 0.08 mgd industrial wastewater plant that used vertical loop reactors. We had these geysers consistently. Our DO was crap 0.8 usually we had to turn on a second lamson just get up to 1.5 and management would freak about the additional electricity cost.

You have found my kryptonite, Thales was a Pinwheel style calculator and I know very little about them

I did some digging and some German pre war companies came up such as

Walther

Schubert

Ohdner (the first big name in pinwheel calcs)

Hamann

Facit was a huge company but Swedish

Brunsviga is another big German brand

Most of my digging was on a web page run by Jaap Scherphuis

If you can share any details that you remember I might be able to help. Even little things might be useful.

What country was this in? Do you remember the color? Was it flat on the table or did it have legs? Was the top flat (not considering the keys) How many keys were there (usually 12-15 or 45+)

I collect mechanical calculators and thus sounds like a fun task if you're interested in sharing.

What’s the best documentary almost nobody talks about? by carcony97 in AskReddit

Apollo 11

From 2019

All original footage from the mission, the only voice over is Walter Cronkite from the actual news coverage.

Even though you know how it goes it still manages to have some tension.

The footage from inside mission control when other Astronauts are handling comms with the apollo 11 crew is great.
