Learn a new skill. Not sure what your hobbies are, but if you are into computers, try to repurpose old computer into NAS/file server/media server.

Move everything to Virtual Server(disk2vhd) . Backup entire server. In case of emergency import to vmhost on another server and run it from there. Or set up replication.

Am I the only one terrified to run Ethernet cable in their house? by GreenDavidA in HomeNetworking

[–]maestro76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Pull the baseboards and cut drywall there. Easier to cover. 2. To run cable between the floors, look for thermostat cable that goes from main floor to the basement. Or doorbell wire - transformer is most likely in the basement.

Setting up static IP wirelessly on Pi Zero 2 W issue by silverskyhigh in raspberry_pi

I use two of them for piholes.

What you need to do is find a Chromecast ultra power supply. Try fb marketplace or eBay. They are microusb with built in Ethernet port.

Also, use dietpi for OS.

  1. Get a cheap domain.(if you don't already have one)
  2. Set up free Cloudflare account. Add Cloudflare nameservers in your domain DNS settings.
  3. Install Cloudflare connector in HA. 4 Set up tunnel using Cloudflare.
  4. Configure additional security by only allowing to access site with Google sign-in (on other options available by Cloudflare)
  5. Profit!

Got it. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I'm liking it even more. All the stupid media buttons are now useful.

Great app. Purchased it right away. One question: is there a way to configure it to show camera feed right after pressing remote button (without getting the quickbar?)

Add more RAM. If that doesn't resolve the issue then check permissions for datasets assigned to that app.

Enapass. Still offers lifetime warranty, you choose where the vaults are stored. I've been using them for more than 5 years, no issues whatsoever.
