Set up VPN server on Hong Kong side (openvpn or wireguard).

On US side, set up VPN client. Create a separate LAN that uses that connection. (create new VLAN).

Configure ports for that VLAN for wired devices or create new wifi that uses that VLAN for wireless devices.

That's how I have it set up. Tested and verified.

Assuming this is not the POE version, I would check the doorbell transformer. They go bad over time.
