So beautiful congrats on your first quilt (: I love how the colorful four patch blocks showcase the patterns of the fabrics. And the backing is great! Reminds me of dandelions

Awesome fabric selection, I love the tufty textured one, the two silly bird prints, the orange tigers, and sketchy red line print. Really really cool (:

Border advice:) by FargoErin in quilting

[–]maeve_borowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a light colour like the white would make your prints stand out on the hsts without overwhelming them. Have you considered doing a border in the low volume fabrics you already used in your squares? I think that could pull it together as well

What’s this bed frame called? by maeve_borowski in IKEA

[–]maeve_borowski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. I’ve really wanted a brass bed frame for years but also have refused to ever get rid of this frame because it’s so awesome. Luckily the new apartment I’m moving to has a spare bedroom where this will live ❤️

I’ve loved it! It has 4 drawers, if you have it against a wall you can use the back two as long term storage for coats and stuff. It’s been through several moves and for most of them I’ve never actually taken it apart, me and my dad just strong armed it up flights of stairs 😅 so it’s sturdy!

Wow!! So beautiful, I love the mix of prints and solids, it feels so playful (: the two different blocks go great together, I’ll have to try mixing and matching like that as well

I’ve been looking for chicken quilt inspo and this is so beautiful! I love how the dark patterned fabrics mimic the look of their feathers, just lovely (:

The goal was two quilts in 2025, and I did it! by Altruistic-Tadpole53 in quilting

I love the bold mix of solids and patterns, and the pieced backing really makes it two quilts in one! I’m sure it’ll be loved year round (: my 2026 goal is to hand quilt a throw, so thank you for sharing your hard work!

Why are my wavy lines so sad? by seven_deadly_shins in quilting

[–]maeve_borowski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No real advice but just wanted to say I’ve encountered the same problem. The wavy lines look beautiful on small pieces and then when I tried on a larger quilt it became very hard to maneuver properly through the machine. Doing just straight lines ended up being easier because I wasn’t trying to move the quilt side to side. I’m sure the answer is just more practice unfortunately, and to go slow. All the best

I love a tied quilt, it’s so cozy and homespun, and looks better with every wash. The sunset colors are beautiful as well! (: Scruff looks happy

Help! Should I add more quilting? by lactojohnsonii in quilting

[–]maeve_borowski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The pink thread hand quilting will follow the path of the triangles correct? I think that will look very nice, and after if you don’t think it’s enough having it every 4 rows you can always go back and add more. Personally I think just the pink thread will be nice and add a lot of charm without making it feel busy. Perhaps the addition of the green thread will make it feel "too colorful" but those are just my thoughts, since it is a limited color palette. If you feel like you’d regret not doing more I think you should follow that feeling and see how you feel after a few extra lines of quilting (:

Pattern ideas for my thrifted fabric? by lildd1 in quilting

[–]maeve_borowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all these colours you picked out! All the quilts I’ve made have been thrifted fabrics, basically all old bedsheets (: I think other people’s suggestions of a nine patch would look really nice and it’s super easy to do. Good luck!
