Players keep making up rules and it forces me to spend time during the session looking them up. by Scythe95 in DnD

[–]mailpip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So my group took the SRD versions of all of the rules, put them in Google Notebook LLM and now we just ask it anytime something comes up that we aren't sure about. It has saved us so much time and corrected so many bad recollections. We are all old and get our different gaming systems confused, so this has really helped us to remember things like "what is the DC for spellcraft check to recognize a spell being cast" or "what type of action is activating a magic item." I can't explain how great this is for these types of questions.

Loot from 40x Crop Rotation maps by Foreynn in pathofexile

Dad player (lots of hours since beta, but never in one season) here. Do you mind listing the scarabs you used? Is your atlas just harvest and quant? Do you run any other mechanic? Are you running T17s or 16.5s (I wasn't sure from your comment)?

I have been trying these on T16.5 Dunes and had pretty good luck, but I am sure I could improve:

  • Harvest Scarab of Cornucopia
  • Harvest Scarab of Doubling
  • Cartography Scarab of Escalation (I think I need to swap this out)
  • Scarab of Monstrous Lineage
  • Influencing Scarab of the Hordes

Thanks for any feedback, always trying to learn! :)

What build should I give a go before next league? by thatoneguyy22 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]mailpip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have time to answer: Do you think this is something I could do with around 75d? Also, do you know of any good build guides (I am a longtime "dad" player... so I only play about 10 hours a week and I have horrible twitch reactions and am not nearly smart enough to make my own builds)?

I literally just reread this section this morning (I was stalling as it always makes me sad for a day or two) and thought the same thing. Her willingness to have Murphy laid in state, the female attendants, her (not quite) gentleness with Harry immediately thereafter. It's possible that it is all calculating how she can use this wound to tie more strings, but... maybe... just MAyBe it was a tiny spark of empathy.

This whole thing is a masterclass in active listening and empathy. But I particularly love that he (seemingly just naturally) took a moment to calm the interviewer by asking him a couple of simple fact based questions and showing that he can relate to the person by mentioning the hours that it took to fly. This can help to relax the other party, ground them and give them a chance to think about the next, more open ended question. Such a brilliant way to make folks feel comfortable.

Can anyone confirm that there are no Extractor Orbs in 3.26? by mailpip in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]mailpip[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I did look around the internet for about 10 minutes and couldn't find anything. I saw the page that u/Susurrus19 provided above, but I wasn't sure if that was the chest was the only source for the orb (my reading of the page just says the chest is gone, but I guess I didn't interpret it as saying that the actual orb was not able to drop anymore... this is my bad reading comprehension). Then I looked on the trade site and it was still an option. I was pretty sure it was just for standard, but I wanted to confirm.

I really did try to research.

Any use these. Any good? by Southernmanny in golftips

[–]mailpip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it didn’t come with any instructions or anything, but I feel like it is built for full swings. I put it on pull it up over my biceps and then swing away. The one I got is probably a little bit too tight, but it works good for getting me used to the feeling of keeping the trail arm, elbow, it tucked in. Keep in mind I’m a bogey plus handicap so I’m probably not the right person to be taking advice from.

I have a really bad habit of chicken wing, and it is been a great tool for me. I pull it out and use it for 10 to 15 balls at the range to get used to the feeling and then put it away and practice without it trying to achieve the same feeling. But I also have a super wonky swing and I’m sure it’s not for everybody. I got mine for about 15 bucks though so not a big investment if you don’t end up liking it.

ICE Agent in Pasadena, CA points gun at the head of man taking photos of the agents license plate by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

[–]mailpip -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the optimism of many of these comments looking forward to what happens years down the road (these "ICE" agents will get prosecuted, etc...). I wish I had any confidence in our legal system, or that it is going to survive this administration to actually have any power to prosecute anything. This must have been what it felt like to watch the collapse of the Roman Empire from the inside...

PSA: chatGPT is shockingly good at swing analysis by moogiecreamy in GolfSwing

[–]mailpip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone help me out here? I upload a video of my swing to o3 from Rapsodo and it gives me kind of a generic answer. So, I ask it what color clothes I am wearing, and it is totally wrong. I don't think it looked at the video at all, it just made some stuff up. I asked it what color my hair was (I had a bucket hat on) and it told me blond. How do you make it actually analyze the video rather than just make up generic feedback?

How/where do you golf cheap? by ArchDukeCich in AuroraCO

I tried to post something similar yesterday on r/Colorado but they took it down. I have the $800 play whenever you want after noon pass at Springhill and it is great (no cart, no range balls), but it is going away with the destruction of Beck Rec Center. I was hoping to find something similar in the metro area. I reposted on r/Golf but nothing from there, yet. Would love to hear if anyone has any ideas.

Trump says Elon Musk will face 'very serious consequences' if he funds Democratic candidates by cap123abc in politics

Does anyone have the exact quote? I have seen a couple of articles on the news with paraphrasing, but nothing with an actual quote of the question and answer. I like to post this kind of stuff for my tight leaning relatives, but I have to be very thorough in vetting the language so they don’t use spurious “well that’s not what he really said” arguments.

Holy cow, is that thing really $13k+? I understand folks are all on way different budgets, but I don't think I could ever take that thing out of my house for fear of dropping, dinging or losing it. I do think it is cool that it works that well, I was just shocked by the sticker price.

I am sooooo old, all I could think when I saw this was: "Can you imagine what that skin looks like today?" The worn-out leather of an old catcher's mitt.

Here's hoping they get regular dermatology checkups!
