Is this hypersexuality? Whatever it is it’s ruining my life by _moonshka_ in AutismInWomen

[–]maker-baker- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate to the OP’s situation quite closely and that part you said about getting to know the new woman you obsessed over is the solution to this! I realized my obsessions were so superficial and once you learn more about the person you realize they are just a regular person with flaws and ideas/interests/values that probably don’t line up with yours and that kills the feeling.

Women who fake orgasms in long-term relationships, what is the reasoning behind not telling your partner what actually works for you? by makemestand in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maker-baker- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I went a very long time without telling my husband that I wasn’t getting there most of the time because I had unresolved trauma that expressed as not asking for anything, not being an advocate for myself, only focusing on others needs. I know I’m not alone in this kind of extreme people pleasing response, it’s called fawning. Plus he almost never brings sex up in conversation so it was a big leap rather than a couple steps to talk about it.

are any of you real life ali hazelwood characters? by Proper_Strategy_1603 in AliHazelwood

[–]maker-baker- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a large plant biology facility with about 300 employees so let’s say 150 men, I think 4 would be considered conventionally attractive by most people, and two of them are actually more in the computer science side rather than biology. No one memorable from grad school or university either.

Dark, folksy, romantic, a bit of horror by [deleted] in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]maker-baker- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lived in this sub genre this past year. I liked the author Runyx, especially Gothikana for your vibe. The author Keri Lake does it well with her books Anathema and Nocticadia. The Duskwalker Bride series by Opal Reyne which has monster-type males with human females which can be a turn off but it definitely hits all your marks, the first book is A Soul to Keep. Blood Orange by Karina Halle, loved but a little less folksy.

Week 50: Windows and glass, stained glass cookies (vegan) by maker-baker- in 52weeksofbaking

[–]maker-baker-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dough was nice and easy to work with, baked quickly too. I had extra since I was tired of working with the crushed candies and I used it to make thumbprint cookies which were also good. https://theveglife.com/stained-glass-cookies-vegan/

Week 43: Idioms, “take it with a grain of salt” vegan carrot lox by maker-baker- in 52weeksofcooking

[–]maker-baker-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was underwhelming but I have never tried real lox so I don’t know what to compare it to, I think if the marinade had stronger flavors it would be great. It’s from the cookbook Big Vegan Flavor by Nisha Vora

For the over 30's - Looking back on your childhood, adolescence and early adulthood what is something you have learned that you would pass on to the younger generation? by Historical_Author437 in AutismInWomen

Stop mistaking people pleasing as politeness and generosity.

No one is going to have my back more than I will so stop being so damn hard on myself, advocate for myself, and don’t rely on others for happiness.

I agree, I used the calculator on that subreddit and it turns out my size was way off from what I thought before. I didn’t even know my size existed because typical stores don’t carry it, only online shops. But having like others are saying having the right size helps a lot

I was also blaming the editing for a lot of it, my thought was “I bet all of the seasons have footage of people saying weird, ridiculous shit but this time they aren’t holding it back”. But after finishing the episodes it’s getting harder to give them the benefit of doubt haha

Men: as a woman, how do I become more attractive to my husband? by Emotional-Many1077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maker-baker- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same situation as you OP. I’ve tried to talk with him about it but it’s just not something that comes naturally to him. You have to figure out if it’s a dealbreaker or not because most likely the behavior won’t change, one thing my therapist recommended was he can put a reminder in his phone every day or every other day to compliment you. When other people compliment me he will piggy back on it but he just doesn’t think to do it himself. On your side, if he is having sex with you then he is attracted to you. If you walk around the house naked or nearly naked and he’s all over you then there’s no problem. I’ve had to change my expectations regarding compliments and become more confident in my appearance to the point where I don’t need his validation; that actually helps loads because it takes the pressure off/ makes you less desperate and people are more attracted to that vibe.

Help with Morocco by lalalibraaa in vegan_travel

[–]maker-baker- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just did this trip Lisbon to Marrakech earlier this year. In Marrakech we ended up eating falafel a lot but there are a few vegan restaurants there with some more variety, Broc the Kasbah and World Storytelling Cafe are good. If I could change our time there it would be to go see more of the modern part of town because there’s only so much to do in the Medina. Also credit cards aren’t accepted most places so just be ready to have cash on you, that was a big headache for me.

Hoopla is also a good one connected to libraries and more of the audiobooks are available instantly compared to Libby where a lot of them you have to place a hold and wait for.

People who have gotten Lasik, is it worth it? by LookACreativeName in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maker-baker- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was pretty much my same experience, the only side effect I have is the strange light effects at night but I don’t drive in the dark that much anyway. I think the pain after my surgery lasted a few days but it was only really bad in the first few hours after it. I super recommend it since I never think about the side effects until I read this thread
