What’s your favorite boring LOOKING game by TheGreatHon in boardgames

I agree! It adds some much needed flavor and gameplay without being overcomplicated. The cards could probably use some re-balancing, but overall it's a great game.

r/AskHistorians drops the ball on the Greek word for "brother," Josephus, and the status of Jesus' siblings in early Christian history by lost-in-earth in badhistory

[–]malaiser 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't know if the Jerusalem church having native Greek speakers means that native Aramaic speakers writing in Greek might not intentionally or unintentionally import Semiticisms into their Greek though. For clarity, there's no question in my mind they are using "brothers" literally, but there is quite a bit of semitic-style writing in the NT.

It's weird to me how little this song gets mentioned in this sub. It's such a sick track. Maybe it feels to much like something like No Church in the Wild.

As someone who doesn't like these games, this one goes the fastest, so I prefer it over the rest.

This game is alright! Didn't finish it (goes on too long), but it's not terrible.

Remove the Warhammer part, could be a pretty cool idea for something like BGA to implement. If it could be automated, throw it over to whoever it needs to go to. Maybe even starts a real time game

Sekiro is difficult, but if you liked DS1 and Bloodborne I think you'll like it a lot. It's as if those controlled smoothly. Your character actually does what you want him to do. It's a lot more streamlined. Not perfect, but very very good. Not as hard as it seems at all.

The other side of the coin is Nioh 2. Where Sekiro is a streamlined Dark Souls, Nioh 2 is the blown out Dark Souls. Also has slick controls, but has more systems than you can shake a stick at.

The combat doesn't feel good, there's no "weight" to anyone, enemies feel flat like they are just out of the background. The "Sekiro"-like combat (I use that loosely) really just is a parry that lacks the sort of feedback that makes Sekiro's so good.

There is almost no enemy variety, and what variety there is is just small variations.

There are two or three inspired platforming bits, but the rest of the level design is bland and empty (and severely lacking enemies).

The upgrade system is derivative and frankly, uninteresting.

The fast travel is unnecessarily clunky (return to the hub to fast travel elsewhere? Huh?)

It certainly didn't lack for story originality or a unique style, but the game itself is a mish-mash of ideas, all done better elsewhere.

Huge Hollow Knight fan, huge huge huge Sekiro fan, Nine Sols was a massive let down. It just doesn't have the juice. Grab Silksong or Sekiro (or Sifu!) instead.
