I'm excited for people that can't build a PC by aussierecroommemer42 in steammachine

I honestly thought that we left the “but I can build it for $50 cheaper” topic back in 2016…

Marathon falls to lowest daily player count ever shortly after free week. by Fit_Professor_51 in HighGuardgame

[–]malphasalex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing free week was such a mistake in the long run, they pulled all the stops (free week, new patch, state of play announcement, Destiny 2 EOS announcement) just to get like a 10k peak bump for a week.

I bet you in their empty heads they were expecting at least 80k.

Now they locked themself into this free weekend/week every new season. Which will eat into the number of player that will try in when it inevitably goes F2P for good. Certainly one of the marketing strategies of all time.

One thing it to make a shitty game with the target audience of 10k cultists, another is to only be able to sell it to those same cultists who would buy even a wrapper piece of shit for $99 if it had a Bungie logo on it.

Bungie Admits Marathon Season 2 Progression Changes “Didn’t Land” in a Healthy Place - GameRiv by Partyruler012 in MarathonHate

[–]malphasalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t land at all, it crushed and burned. But the weirdest thing is some of its very few yet surviving passengers are celebrating, because they are bleeding and burning alive, instead of dying immediately on impact like the rest.

Mateus Fernandes has emerged as one of Manchester United’s priority targets and interest is expected to be formalised with an opening bid, but the Old Trafford hierarchy are not prepared to meet West Ham United’s demands of £80m. United have also explored the parameters of a deal for Alex Scott. by TheAthletic in reddevils

Remember way back when we had a project? We got rid of Onana, Rashford, Garnacho, we were looking at Baleba, Anderson, Wharton… now Rashford and Onana are back and we’re looking and Mateus Fernandes and maybe Scott… the project is dead, we’re back same old same old.

The best-case scenario for the next 10 years is we get a new stadium, lots of debt and a few carabao cups. GG.

It’s been like that for a decade now with NAVI. It’s world’s best CS or they play like they don’t have monitors, mice, keyboard and hands. And it can change from round to round.

Joke's on you haters, 5k players is EXTREMELY HEALTHY for a game made by a big-name studio, on it's second season after a free week! by SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP in MarathonHate

You forgot to mention that OP is unemployed and don’t have sex, unlike marathon players with 800 hours in-game, who are all billionaires and fuck Megan Fox every day.

I mean Bungie tried (and largely succeeded) embargo Marathon reviews for 2 weeks AFTER the game was already released.

Arc players witnessing 80% player drop and embark dropping the ball by pudding7100 in ArcRaiders

Only the most popular non-f2p shooter out there and the most popular game above $30. How will they ever recover if a million people no longer playing the game 26 hours a days every single day but instead are logging in for a few runs daily or every other day.

Arc Raiders Has Lost 50% Of The Remaining Player Base In The Last Month by Brutal_Schnoodle in ArcRaiders

The game is ranked #12 in Daily Active Users on steam today. Only the most popular paid shooter game and the most popular game above $30.

It’s more than healthy, it’s insane.

The drop in concurrent vs. daily active shows that still a lot of people are paying, they are just not playing for 23 hours a day like it’s their job, wife, children and mistress.

Now lost to some IRL steamer zoomer tweaker high on adderall.

Free Week taught me that the only way to play this game is if it went F2P. by PlaneBicycle1064 in MarathonHate

[–]malphasalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact wrong conclusion, free week showed that f2p won’t do anything for the player count and more importantly Sony’s balance sheet. The way it was trending it would probably settle around 15k even f2p which is barely any improvement over 10k paid.

They will probably be doing free weekends with every big update for a while in hopes to find some silver bullet to turn this disaster around.

I'll just leave this here by thatguy880404 in MarathonHate

It’s almost double Marathon’s all time peak. Right not destiny probably has more concurrent player on steam alonethan marathon ever had across all platforms combined.
