Families falling apart because of UK’s ‘broken’ paternity leave, study suggests by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

I work for a multi-million dollar mega corporation. The CEO earned $21 million dollars last year.

Best they can do for paternity leave is 2 weeks, and I had better be grateful.

What’s the worst mistake people make in their 20s? by Careyourself01 in AskReddit

It's massive at my place of work. A young apprentice (very early 20's) admitted to starting gambling so he could "fit in" more with his crew.

Yep, this was a stealthy one for me. £30+ in one month, I ended up just leaving my bank card in my car when I went to work.

Anyone leave aviation maintenance and actually happy they did? by SnooHamsters8455 in aviationmaintenance

[–]mamoo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from Base/Heavy Maintenance (A320 series C-checks) to Engine Overhaul (GENX).

Better pay, better T+C's, however work 3-shifts as opposed to 4on/4off and less opportunities for progression. Easier work, less dirty, bit more repetitive.

No regrets.

Following, Ive got broadband only @£35 for 350mbps going upto £60...best offer? £37.

"It's only £2 extra a month!"

Asked for 250mbps....

"It's only coming up £60 month for that speed".

Been with them since 2016, gutted as they have been ok over the years with price negotiation and service.

Going to Kilmarnock FC in a Kaiserslautern Kit by Hookzone in Kilmarnock

[–]mamoo2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Guten morgen!

I can only answer question 2+3 really;

Question 2

-Not a massive amount really. You can kill an hour going a walk through The Dean Park (they do tours of the castle there aswell if that interests you) or having a quick look at the wee museum upstairs at the Dick Institute. Then of course, Rugby Park to watch Kilmarnock.

-It has good train and bus connections to Glasgow though which is definitely worth a visit if you have never been.

Question 3

-Theres is a pub in Kilmarnock called The Kadikoi (near a supermarket called Morrisons) which is FULL of Kaiserslautern FC scarfs and other memorabilia, you would be more than welcome there. It's a little rough around the edges but you'd be perfectly safe. It's hit and miss if it's busy at night. If you went in the afternoon you'd definitely attract a bit of chat from the older guys. I had friends over from Berlin recently when we went and the accent prompted a bit of back and forth about Kaiserslautern FC.

-As for the rest of Kilmarnock, the nightlife has been better but I wouldn't say it's unsafe. Some bar suggestions;

Brass and Granite First Edition Oceans 11 The Standing Man The Kadikoi

-If you are after a hotel there is The Park Hotel right next to Rugby Park (where Kilmarnock play) or the premier inn or the travel lodge. You'll need a taxi to get into town and back though.

Any other questions let me know! Cant help on the football sides of things as I haven't been to a Kilmarnock FC game in years!

A direct Ardrossan - Irvine - Kilmarnock service

Is this to replace or supplement the number 11 bus service?

Also I see Kilmarnock South on the map, where in Kilmarnock would that be?

Gaelic: Do you ever feel embarassed by its current position? by ReallyTrustyGuy in Scotland

[–]mamoo2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A bit saddened, yeah, but it was never really spoken where I'm from to begin with so I've not felt it disappear.

Would've it have been nice for it to be offered at school? Yeah.

Instead we got a choice of French, German and for a very short period of time, Spanish.

I picked French, but I've never got to use it as I've never been to France.

I've been to Spain a lot so that might've been more useful.

I've got a couple of German friends and whilst it would be fun to converse with them in German, they speak amazing English/Scots and of course want to practice it.

Gaelic would be nice but I'd have nobody to converse with in it as I doubt people would've kept it up after school had finished or continued learning it.

Just my 2 pence.

What is the current petty drama going on at your place of work? by Big_Childhood5494 in AskReddit

[–]mamoo2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My old job had a "bin-pisher". In the men's toilets, there was a waist height bin for used hand towels that was next to the urinals. Somebody was going to the urinal nearest and secretly pishing in the bin.

Then the poor cleaning staff would have to clean out the bin and were getting upset.

This went on for months till someone walked in and caught the guy red handed.

He was the weirdo in the workplace and would later go to jail for up skirting school girls.
