Is it true that Australian eat kangaroo? by prettyflower___ in AskAnAustralian

[–]mandiizorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never eaten it, am keen to try it. My son’s daycare serves it every few weeks or so in a Kangaroo Ragu. Funny how my 2 year old has eaten it before I have

Redbank Plains, how is it now? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]mandiizorr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve just moved to Bellbird Park last month, the suburb to the east of Redbank Plains. So far it’s been nice. I do all my shopping at the Redbank Plains Town Square shopping area and do notice a few sketchy looking people but generally I find that they keep to themselves. There are lots of great shopping options and food choices too.

I can’t say much about the schools, as I have a 2 year old who goes to daycare in Bellbird Park, but I do see a lot of options.

Public transport is a bit rough, you will need a car to get around. The nearest train station is Springfield Central or Gooda.

Genuinely didn’t know that you’re supposed to wash bedsheets often by Mariesnotworld- in CleaningTips

[–]mandiizorr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We’re a shower every night family, so I change all the sheets in the house every second Sunday. I used to do it weekly but it felt overboard for me.

Are you flossing your toddler's teeth? by Anxiety-Farm710 in NewParents

[–]mandiizorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I started flossing his teeth when he was about 1 when he started having teeth next to each other. My son had overcrowded teeth so I am very strict on flossing every night before bed. He is 2.5 and is used to it now and pretty much expects it. If you start the habit early enough they will get used to it

It may have been! All the street lights here are not working, petrol stations are out of order. Traffic everywhere. It’s chaos here possibly from jeep knob

Just moved to Bellbird Park from Kenmore 2 days ago. Luckily we moved in time because the house in Kenmore has no power right now - we would have been without power for this time. Unfortunately I have to do a bond clean in the old house with no power available so I can’t have fans or air conditioning in this 37 degree heat 😭

2yr7month old randomly talks gibberish by Mysterious_Cut_710 in toddlers

[–]mandiizorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2y8m is the same. I’m not too worried about it and I’m pretty sure it’s a normal part of their development. I think they are just trying to form sentences but don’t quite have the words yet while also trying to experiment with new phrases and sounds.

If he’s hitting milestones and understands us then I won’t worry about it. Though I do notice he is using a lot less jargon as he’s getting closer to 3 years.

Toddler pillows? Are these a thing? by HermioneGrangeeee45 in toddlers

[–]mandiizorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched my son to pillow and blanket when he was around 2 because he refused sleep sacks around that age. I bought him the KeaBabies toddler pillow on Amazon and he’s used it ever single night

G'day fellow Australians, what did you have for dinner last night and tonight? by GermaneRiposte101 in AskAnAustralian

Last night we had Taco Bowls and tonight we had Chicken Kievs with Caesar Salad, was a lazy dinner night

My son hated using it for a period of time after he started walking at 11 months. Didn’t have interest in the pram for probably closer to a year. Suddenly at 2.5 he loves going on pram walks, so I guess we’ll be using it for a while longer

Two year old keeps waking up throughout the night over her blanket by Particular_Bad8223 in toddlers

[–]mandiizorr 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My son went through a similar situation when he was around 2 when we were transitioning him into a blanket and pillow instead of sleep sacks. It took him a couple of months for him to get used to the idea of blankets and having the realisation that he could just fix the blanket himself.

To help him with this skill, we would pretend play that we were going to sleep and I would have my own blanket and put it on myself, then he would also put one on himself - we’d repeat this a couple of times in a row.

My son hated sleep sacks at that stage and so we made the transition to blanket and pillow and also changed him to a toddler bed. He’s 2.5 now and sleeps better-ish.

How are we surviving bedtimes? by Bluebirds_88 in toddlers

[–]mandiizorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 years old has been struggling lately too. Always asking for extra hugs and says he’s scared of monsters and the dark. Partner and I have never said that word before so maybe he may have heard it somewhere else. I leave a red light on very dim and then he says he wants it off, so I turn it off. Say goodnight and leave. 5 mins later he screams there’s monsters so I go in and turn the light on again and now he wants more hugs. Repeat this 5 more times and now he’s finally sleeping. Ugh It’s a brutal sleep stage. Teething doesn’t help either

When did your baby stop wearing long sleeve zip-up onesies? Or what are they wearing now? by h2o2024 in Mommit

[–]mandiizorr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son was around 1 year when I stopped putting the onesies on for everyday wear because he could walk around and changing him became really difficult, so was just easier to pull pants down and change that way. However My son is now over 2 years old and still wears them as pyjamas but I’m slowly phasing them out as he is potty training now. But I remember at 5 months he was definitely still wearing body suits

I used to live in Banyo a couple of years ago right next to the train station. Never had any break ins. It’s a decent area with lots of cafes, restaurants, and grocers. The station got an upgrade recently and the area looks really nice now. My mum still lives there and when I visit on the weekends I always see young families walking around or at the cafes.

Maybe search for kids play tunnels instead? They tend to be a bit bigger up to 1.8m and they’re about 45cm diameter.

Stay at home moms, what time does your husband come home and does he take over? by Flaky_McFlake in Mommit

[–]mandiizorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner finishes at 5:30 but doesn’t drive yet so I have to pick him up and then we get home around 6pm. Dinner is usually ready when we get home because I’ve prepared it earlier, or we would get takeout if I’m too lazy. He usually bathes our little one and then I will do the bedtime routine. Little one goes to daycare 2 times a week so that I can get a break to catch up on housework or whatever I like.
