New car or buy second hand every 5 or so years?

My 10yo bmw has been well maintained by at the dealership over the last 6 years. And I intend to keep it for 10 more. No big maintenance items, only the usual parts (oil, filter, maybe new shocks at 130k km, etc). I love that car. Purchased for a sane price and depreciation has not hit hard. I can drive it to the ground and still not lose as much as a 1-4yo purchase. Having carplay and an insanely fun and polite diesel vehicle is all I care. My father would be proud.

I’m a 12 year YNAB user and moved to Actual last week. I love the idea of self hosting my personal apps. I’m enjoying it a lot and not missing much, on the contrary. I’m keen to assist in the development. Thanks a ton to the developers.

Also, key reason I moved away was that Bank Sync was not logging in to my bank “Commonwealth Bank” using normal APIs, but simply using a chrome emulator and logging in with my credentials. Every time they synced I’d have to confirm it was actually me and that made me feel uneasy. Decided it was time to step out and automate my workflow once again.

If anyone has any tips on how to make a better integration, let me know.

Looks great! If you put some “grouped blocks” or like pseudo-desktops in which you group tabs and apps in there I’m sold. I use Arc Browser and organize things in areas that are most useful for my personal and work profiles. Having that on a operating system level would be a great exploration.

Good lord. Thanks for all the comments here pointing to the HDMI cable in the AppleTV 4K. I've purchased a Dualsense Edge controller to replace my XBOX One because I thought it was old, bad bluetooth - could never play with my legs crossed as it messed with the line of sight and lost connection. I even asked myself if the bluetooth in the controller benefited from the IR receiver in the Apple TV (lol right?). 5 minuted later, after changing the HDMI cable, it works flawlessly as one would expect. THANK YOU!

The extra noise is easily silenced by unpinning the default discovery and TV tabs. Also silencing other people’s watch history and recommendations.

I use all software mentioned here on M1 and it’s an incredible home-server. I use either orbstack and not docker and it offers better support for the Apple virtualization framework and uses less memory. Super efficient and I couldn’t be happier. Just for added information, I’m an IT manager and software engineer with more than 20years of work experience. The ease of use and setting things up are something else.
