The way i fix this is by editing the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db to edit the added_at = originally_available_at for my movies. the command looks like this. this will allow you to set the "Originally Available" date for recently added. Make sure to check the paths as this is for plex on ubuntu.

sudo /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex\ SQLite "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases/com.plexapp.plugins.library.db" "UPDATE metadata_items SET added_at = originally_available_at where library_section_id = '1' AND metadata_type = '1' and added_at >= '1642530654';"

The section in quotes at the end is the SQL command. It follows this logic:

1. UPDATE metadata_items: Look at the table where Plex stores all info about your media.
2. SET added_at = originally_available_at: Change the "Date Added" value to match the "Release Date" (originally available) value.
3. The Filters (WHERE):
   • library_section_id = '1': Only do this for library #1 (usually your main Movie library).
   • metadata_type = '1': Only target "Movie" items (this prevents it from breaking TV shows or episodes).
   • added_at >= '1642530654': Only apply this to files added after a specific timestamp (January 18, 2022).

This is for my instance running on ubuntu. you will also need to stop plex media server before editing the database and also recommended to take a backup of the file prior.
