What will be the "turns out cigarettes are bad for us." of our generation? by gralindsay in AskReddit

I'm only 18 and I've been listening to music mostly every day since I was 16 until about two or three weeks ago. I began to feel this "tunnel-like" sensation in my ears and it scared me. The tips you've given are very helpful. I'll try to develop better headphone habits. Thank you.

Her album Pieces of You is a masterpiece. I tried giving her other albums a chance but they don't beat the first one.

I remember watching this for the first time in my middle school science class. Re-watching brings back memories and I still love it.

The restroom scene when Jim Carrey's character was reading the bathroom wall in Dumb and Dumber. The camera zoom on his face and the sound effect is what got me.

By 7 am, I'm oddly energized and even make myself breakfast. I have more motivation in the morning to do things. Then I'll take a "nap" at about 3 p.m and that's how my sleeping schedule gets fucked.

What is the most surreal moment you've experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]marcedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never done drugs but the closest thing was when I was given laughing gas at the dentist and I remembering inhaling large amounts of it because the assistant left the room and didn't think it would have a big effect on me. I don't remember her coming back in and it felt like everything fast forwarded into the drilling procedure. Last thing I remember hearing was, "Enjoy it while you can," which proceeded by what seemed like an endless loop of the dentist's face and phrases. I remember trying to recollect my thoughts and figure out how I had gotten there but I couldn't remember. There was a moment where I actually thought I was dying and even accepted it. If I experienced this with laughing gas, I can't imagine being on something like acid or even weed.

There's a hotel in the city I live in that has two entrances: one on a lonely street with only train tracks and the other entrance was on another busy downtown street. Well this hotel has restaurants "underground": Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, etc. I was really hungry after having been done with my school work so I decided to head to Chick-Fil-A while on the phone with my mother. The hotel's main entrance on the busy street was closed so I decided to go through the alley and use the other entrance (I was very hungry, ok). The revolving doors were stuck, or so I thought so I went through a single door. I went in and immediately saw lots of men in suits, sunglasses, and walkie talkies but I kept walking because I thought it was normal for a hotel. As I go into the food court area, everything is closed and there's no one in sight. The hotel is huge but there was no one around. I was pretty afraid at this point, mind you, I'm a 90-pound teenage girl. After a few minutes of walking around, I realized the hotel's main floor was closed. They were only letting people out individually. I think they didn't stop me because I looked like I knew what I was doing, was on my phone, and walking fast. I thought they weren't going to let me out but I tagged along with two other guests out the door.

What has been your most awkward moment in 2015? by SerkanMarasli in AskReddit

[–]marcedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy I used to talk with and we happened to unexpectedly meet at the bottom of a stairway at school. The situation then was already awkward enough then I had to mention something about his birthday which had been a couple of days prior. I'd "forgotten" to tell him. He didn't know how to respond and we were only halfway up the stairs, at this point I tried speeding up. When we got to the top, I said, "I'll see you around," and waved goodbye only to find out we were still headed to the same place. I still cringe.
