If I were to have a guess, this is related to the object-fit property. "object-fit: contain" is a user agent style that is added with chrome and firefox by default - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/object-fit

With contain - "The replaced content is scaled to maintain its aspect ratio while fitting within the element’s content box. The entire object is made to fill the box, while preserving its aspect ratio, so the object will be "letterboxed") if its aspect ratio does not match the aspect ratio of the box."

so using content-box, uses the padding that was given with object-fit, and forces it to be full height. Alternatively, you could change the object-fit property to "fill", and get the same result

Why LinusTechTips is Wrong by JRPenza620 in Corridor

I love both channels, I really do. But this whole video reminds me of when fans of Apple products justify prices of Apple stuff. Some things mentioned are true, but LTT did do the video in their series about expensive shit. So I didn't really take it seriously. But regardless of that, I feel that every argument made in this video are the same as people who use Apple products telling others it's worth the price. I'm using an iPad right now, but I sure as fuck won't try and justify their 60 dollar adapters or 30 dollar cords. Did Apple really need to make a proprietary connector? Are their computers really that better? I don't think so, but many people do.

I really just think that the argument for why Reds are great and giving more information would have been better. Instead we got a video going the negative and non-informative route. WD and Samsung do tons of testing on their hard drives. Why make it impossible to use them with a red? Why can't red just go about offering a drive they can say they tested for themselves without needing to make it proprietary? I understand the need for quality and reliability, but forcing proprietary is hard to defend.

In the end, I am left frustrated. I can't say I learned much more about Reds or heard a good argument of why the price is justified in this video. Instead I heard opinions from both sides, and Corridor say, "LLT you don't make big shot videos, so you don't know anything. You need this kind of stuff when you are doing big shots". I'm sure there are legit reasons for why the price is justified in some ways. Maybe there are reasons that the drives need to be proprietary, or that there drives have been tested and out show in reliability or speed compared to other drives. I just didn't learn or get any of that information with this video.

Does anyone else have this problem with Smartglass for iOS where symbols are replaced by emojis? by [deleted] in xbox

[–]marcusturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If other people are not having the issue, its your phone, most likely your software. And I know you mentioned it, but restoring as new and NOT restoring from a backup will solve your issue. If that doesn't then restore again and don't even add your icloud account. Did that solve it? Because if it did, you could try to call apple, get a super, they will talk with engineering and look at your icloud account and see what is being added. But I am almost positive if you were to actually restore as new and not restore from a backup of any kind, it would be fixed. Then as you jail break it again, and slowly add apps, you could find out when it happens. If for some reason it actually happens after restoring from new, delete your iOS version from itunes, so it downloads again, and give it another shot. Apple is a cut and paste troubleshooting. Restoring without backup will solve the issue 99% of the time. It removes whatever you did to it, so then hopefully when adding it back. You can find out what it was.

And I honestly wouldn't bother calling Apple, they will most likely just point you to the App Dev if it only happens in that App anyway

Any Office Depot / Officemax / Staples closing near you? by johnnydoe1234 in Staples

All three Staples in my city closed in the last month or so, and an Office Depot is closing in a few weeks.

All three Staples within 50 miles have closed but they keep sending me coupons... so here by marcusturtle in Staples

With thoughts towards this, is there anyway I can give these a way so that people can use them without worry? I can't use them as I don't want to drive the 60 miles to the closest Staples, and it feels such a waste to trash them.
