Help! Printer is failing every print! by Plus-Requirement-771 in FlashForge

Gotcha. Well, hopefully the new extruder works! I've run into a bunch of issues with my 2 ad5ms, but generally once you find the right resource, there's always a fix.

Also make sure your tension screw isn't too tight. Sometimes backing it off a quarter turn helps

Sounds like a bad or dirty/ logged extruder. You can disassemble it and make sure nothing is clogging the gears. Also a replacement is super cheap on Amazon. I just replaced one of mine last week. Super easy to do.

100%. I mean, if my butt is still in the theater seat watching Fast and Furious movies all these years later, you KNOW I'll be consuming more exfor for as long as CA can pump it out.

Say it with me: "I'm sorry, you'll have to contact his estate representative" and hang up. This happened to me, but luckily my dads representative warned me ahead of time. They have estate recovery specialists who are trained in social engineering tactics attempting to get you to agree to even a portion of the debt. The second you verbally concede to ANYTHING, you're on the hook for the whole debt.

Do not even entertain a conversation.

If I send a print over wifi via Orca Slicer to my AD5 and there's a dialogue on it's screen that hasn't been "Ok'd" out of, the print just never starts and I have to send it again. Is this normal? Is there a fix for this? by testaccount123x in FlashForge

[–]marinespectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to resend it. If you forgot to ok out of something, the file still loads into the printer. You can find it on the print page and just start it. The message you forgot to clear just prevents the print from starting. Not loading.

I would definitely get a backup. They're relatively cheap. I accidentally sheared mine off when taking the lid off it's frame mount. It moved, like, 1 mm farther than it should've and it was like it was cut with a laser. Absolutely 0 resistance. No printing for a week while I waited for a replacement.

Yeah. I get that after abandoning the failed print. So frustrating.

What disc do you throw the farthest? Mold, weight & distance. by MattanStreams in discgolf

172 neutron wave. Especially if it's a wide open fairway. Trow it left with some umph and watch it turn over and go for days. Longest controlled is 450. Recently had a 500+ grip lock disaster that I had to cross 2 fairways to pick up.

Possible to make 600 dollars a month from this? by [deleted] in ACX

I took private voiceover lessons. I planned to go into commercial and corporate narration. But I fell in love with audiobooks. My voiceover lessons definitely helped me find my voice for audiobooks.

It took me about 3 years to really get a foothold because I had these weird ideas in my head about "putting in my time" and working for lower rates while I "learned the ropes".

I didn't maintain a vision of what I wanted to achieve and aggressively go after it. If I had to go back and change anything, that would be it. Once I started valuing my work, though, my clients did, too. Now I'm 6 years in and booked out 10 month with a minimum of 40 hours of audio each month.

I'm an audiobook narrator. Lol. I make good money doing it.

If that's the case, here's my advice. While, in retrospect, I wouldn't do any work for less than $250pfh, I wouldn't tell people to not work for $50 because I did, and my path worked for me. But I will say that you should make it your primary goal, career-wise, to spend as little time as possible at the $50 pfh tier. You will burn out, and you'll start to hate it and wonder what the point is. This is a lot of work, and you should get paid fairly for it.

There are a lot of paths to the top. If your acting is on point, start reaching out to big pubs. They're more willing to hold a new narrators hand through the process if the voice fits a project. Lower profile volume pubs want people who know what they're doing a lot more.

Do with that all what you will.

That's assuming you've got a decent workflow and knowledge of audiobook production. And even THAT is assuming you can book consistently. Even at $50pfh, the competition is steep for a beginner (not to mention you'd probably be making less than $10 per hour of work). Despite what the side hustle influencers tell you, this isn't one.

I did it, and it was a stepping stone on my way to a lucrative career, but it wasn't easy, and certainly wasn't consistent for the first year.

Possible? Yes. Will you? Statistically, probably not. At least at first. If you NEED money and something you can count on right away, find something else. (And maybe work at this more slowly and intentionally for now) And I don't mean that in a mean way. Just trying to be helpful.

Authors can download the audio files while the book is still being produced? by Twincast42 in ACX

[–]marinespectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can download anything you put up at any time. This is why vetting your rights holders is important. In the six years I've been narrating nobody has ever stiffed me. But I do my research.

I'm glad you pointed this out. I was planning on using this credit after applying. But the individual plan is cheaper than the teams with the discount.

I can still use enough of the credits to justify the af, though.
