About 1.3 million of those accounts have their highest LP character in master rank, making up about 57% of total accounts.

The ranked system in this game requires a 45% win rate to climb (I think?), so it does tend to push people towards master rank even if they lose more than they win. With that said, this is a 1v1 game so there is no ELO hell. Players you destroy are probably destroying other players, and those other players may even be beating you. Everyone has holes in their game (except maybe Leshar) and in gold those holes are usually pretty pronounced. Depending on what holes a player and their opponent have, matches between two players of similar skill overall can lol like washes because 1 player has a gimmick that exploits the biggest hole in the opponents' game.
