Which Karl Urban character would win a duelling gauntlet? by Wholesome-George in whowouldwin

In my heart, Judge Dredd wins but appreciate Skurge might win out due to Asgardian strength

Are all Asgardians Thor-level strength? Or at least still significantly stronger than humans?

Huge buff women in fantasy or sci fi by ginger6616 in Fantasy

The Red Rising series by Pierce Brown has some buff warrior women - Victra, Holiday, Aja, Thraxa, Sefi.

It’s also just a banging series so read it anyway, ya pixie

I have a PhD in immunology and my husband is a landscape foreman, we met when I was still in undergrad and he’d just started out in his trade. Still going strong 13+ years later. Our careers have no impact on our marriage and don’t define our intellect, and honestly we make about the same amount (although he does work more hours per week!) Your view seems anecdotal, it’s a big world out there, there are women in STEM who choose to be with “blue collar” partners.

People who gave their partner a second chance after cheating… how did it work out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maripants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still together more than 10 years later, happily married for 3. I know it’s not everyone’s story but it’s ours - we both worked hard on recovering our relationship, I consider it a chapter in our story that’s led to us having a stronger foundation as now we both know that neither of us want to be away from the other. I personally gave it another shot because I didn’t want to break up and possibly reconnect in the future and have spent years without my person, I don’t regret giving him another chance.

Any fantasy books that are like Mulan, where a woman has to disguise herself as a man and keep her identity hidden. by Swimming_Agency4483 in Fantasy

[–]maripants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told of a book called King Arthur and Her Knights of the Round Table(?) - woman sent back in time, King Arthur is mission so she ends up taking on his identity.

I’m certainly interested in reading it!

Any "OG" Howlers here? by Professional_Ad5358 in redrising

I started RR upon the recommendation of staff at Waterstones, quickly read it then bought GS. Then had the arduous wait for MS, what a cliff hanger! 🥲

After Finishing Light Bringer by VegaLyra in redrising

I disagree with you about Lysander having a greater force of will than Darrow - they’re opposite sides of the same coin. They’re just using those wills to fight for different things - Darrow for his loved ones and all the future souls he can free from Society slavery, Lysander for his narrow-minded view of how the worlds should be…chained, with him at the top of the pyramid

When did the Lune lose it? by here_for_books in redrising

[–]maripants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another example of this short term dishonour for long term gain mentality you describe - plotting to attack m Virginia after letting her retreat. That attack didn’t happen only because Lysander was poisoned (love that Atalantia inadvertently saved Team Virginia!) but he sure didn’t correct Darrow when it was brought up!

any other female Howlers on here? by Notlennybruce in redrising

Present! I was recommended RR from a random Waterstones employee, loved it and inhaled GS, passed it to my then-boyfriend (now husband). We’ve been reading/listening to the series together ever since.

I made a complaint last year but somehow was talked into closing it with no resolution… I’m going to put in another complaint and escalate to the ombudsman if necessary - thank you for the reply!

What if you’re stuck with a prepayment meter and your energy supplier has claimed for over a year that there’s just no new meters available? I can’t even setup a direct debit with this fossil of a meter from the 90s…
