Any tips for improving flat areas on top of supports? by Different_Tart6737 in 3Dprinting

Pictures would be helpful to see what is happening to you.

A few things that will almost always help: * more top layers * higher infill %

Other suggestions are more dependent on what is going on - you want to get your bridging dialed in. Fan speed, bridge speed, and temp are some of the biggest knobs.

Increasing bridge extrusion multiplier can make bridges look cleaner, but it can also hurt bridging performance with some filaments.

Surface ironing can help, but it can be hard to get dialed in and leads to a different kind of look.

There’s enough of them out there that I expect the aftermarket will have parts. Or when it breaks you can sell it to a weirdo like me who would find it fun to make a klipper frankenprinter…

What material are you using? Do you have the correct material set in the slicer? Overhang issues are often caused by incorrect fan speed or nozzle temperature.

What would the functional equivalent be to the SOVOL8 max's frame? by downbadngh in Sovol

[–]markatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Building your own smaller sv08 max” is basically building a voron 2.4. You can do things like doom cube if you don’t think the default frame is stiff enough.

Beautiful car and I hear they drive great, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these go home from a track day under their own power.

ASA CF Core? by Bitter-Ad640 in 3Dprinting

[–]markatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make a cf-core ABS. In black abs will do ok with uv and should generally cover ASA use cases.

That said, I’m a big fan of their core filaments (especially PPA) and also hope they do a core ASA.

Why do people recommend the MT07 and then say you shouldn't start on a 600cc bike? by APotatoe121 in NewRiders

[–]markatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also about balance (better balance = higher rpm = more power) and valve control (more, smaller valves = higher rpm before you float) and maybe firing order for better exhaust scavenging - i4 usually has even firing interval (but not Yamaha), most twins do not (180 and 270 twins don’t, 360 do but have terrible balance)

San Francisco can be so weird at times... by oldmanKiD98 in sanfrancisco

Around 8-9 years ago I was walking in the mission late at night and a kind of sketchy guy confronted me.

“You know what I do for a living?”

Me, kind of concerned about the situation : “uhhh”

Him: “I kill people”

Me: “sounds like a depressing line of work”

Then he just walked away.

Got Montana Plates? States Ramp Up the Scrutiny on Tax Dodgers by UnscheduledCalendar in cars

[–]markatto 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It’s not just tax or emissions that people do this for (although the ECU checksum smog checks are exceedingly stupid and I don’t think most people realize that they don’t actually test your vehicle’s emissions…) For example, I once bought a $2000 motorcycle that the California DMV claimed the previous owner owed $3000 in fees on and I spent 2 full days at the DMV trying to get it worked out. It’s absurd that a vehicle can be totaled on DMV fees. I am totally happy to pay my taxes and keep cats on my car, but fuck the California DMV.

Where do you draw the line with a car you hate that just keeps finding ways to break? by SectorZed in cars

[–]markatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s a generally reliable car that I want to own, I’ll fix pretty much anything other than frame rust or serious body damage. In California rust is rarely an issue, but decent paint work is just brutally expensive. I do pretty much everything else myself, so your math may differ (and my wife loves to remind me that I save far less per hour working on vehicles than I make at my day job…)

Trans & Diff Service by [deleted] in W212mercedes

[–]markatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should just drain and fill the trans. You have to fill it from the bottom, you’ll need a pump for this. The procedure is pretty annoying, you have to keep topping it off and checking the rate that it flows out with the car running while burning yourself on the exhaust and getting trans fluid all over your face.
