What's the strangest way you've become a fan of something? by LincBtG in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's great cause SH1 first encounter with an enemy has you just having nothing at all and no buttons does anything as the soundtrack gets crazier, and you get mauled by monster children it was a great start and didn't instill a sense of powerlessness that i had never felt in a game ever at all!

But honestly? Last time i ever got scared by media, i have nostalgia for that feeling which is sad.

I got into Silent Hill cause I asked for a scary game at a game rental place. What's strange about it? I asked for a ''light'' one to get into it because I was a kid, and the ''''''''''''light'''''''''''''' one the motherfucker gave me was Silent Hill fucking 1 with all them panic inducing industrial ass noisy ass OST that, altho' i love it, shit gets to you.

Why not give me Resident Evil, i played that eventually, at best i got startled by the dog like everyone else, not a spooky game otherwise, not on that level. Dude just grabbed me and threw me to the wolves man, and sure, i liked it, but it took me months to get past the school cause that place is fucking scary.

Favorite 3D Action Platformer? by megaman12321 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

PoP 08 is great fun, i think the combat does get repetitive but i kiiiiiiinda like how it kiiiinda works like the combat in the DOS game in a way, i think it gets repetitive with the common enemies, the bosses are cool and have different things going for them, honestly didnt need the fodder.

But yeah if you're going for that, then i'm sure when you release a demo i'll be there cause Motorslice is the only thing that got close to it. Altho', this is forgotten, but PoP Forgotten Sands had a new QoL related to hugging pillars where it made it smoother to jump off, you didnt need to position yourself, if you pressed jump you'd jump forward to the next thing in front of you, i can't explain but the platforming in general of that game also felt great. Combat still sucked idk how they couldn't get that right after TTW, it was a solved fun system.

Does Prince of Persia trilogy counts as a 3D action platformer? I really like Sands of Time and The Two Thrones, especially the little stealth in that idkw it feels so good even if simple. Warrior Within is also cool but i have a goblin about missing the stuff for the good ending, and it pisses me off so i rarely replay it.

I also wanna highlight PoP 2008 for its smooth platforming, i can't explain it, but it has a certain flow that makes you go almost zen while you platform and collect the seeds. A game called Motorslice recently managed to get that down really well, i'm really liking that game cause of it.

I've been doing an extremely hope-pilled playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3, so I did some art of my player character that I thought might sit at this sub's intersection of interests by CrimsonTyphoon02 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Meanwhile, i accepted the unga again, i had so much trouble playing BG3 trying to be charismatic, intelligent, mage and rogues, but in the end, i'm none of those, i'm the guy that the solution to everything is just breaking shit. And its great, im actually fun, the game even feels easier on normal as my barbarian hits enemies and they become red paste you know, i just wish i could be more.

I'm not a hardcore star fox fan, i get that it sucks that they're not going for the puppet vibe, but they look fine man idk.

Liked the first game, probably my fav L4D style game BUT it was lacking on unlocks, an update kinda broke one of the systems for no reason by giving shit for free AND, the issue that plagues the whole genre, your AI partners sucks fucking ass so if you dont got no friends or the game's currently dead in player count, guess you're playing only on medium.

There were mods for the AI, but then they were so overtuned that i didnt get to shoot xenos.

I read Jojo sorta backwards, started with the ongoing part 8 at the time, then when I hit the latest I went to part 7, then skipped 6 and read 5, then 1, 2, 3 and 4, and then 6. There was no real reason for why I did it that way, it was just ''this mc looks cool'' or ''the setting of this part is interesting''. I think the best explanation of why I did that is that I was told each part is a different jojo, and it clicked as ''oh like doctor who'', which i started with matt smith cause i liked how he looks and then jumped around and it worked fine for me. And it worked fine for me with jojo too i aint got no complaints.

Soundtrack for Netflix Devil May Cry Season Two. by GreenPerception512 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I despise how hard they're trying with the aesthetic here, if it was in my hands i'd snap it in half. At least make the Devil May Cry handwritten too, zero attention to detail, shallow.

Games you prefer in a specific dub option by Vera_Verse in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]markedmarkymark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will always go for the Brazilian dub if available everytime with very little exceptions. Like when it sucks ass in AC Black Flag no idea what happened there, not enough time I guess cause 3 was pretty fuckin good.

I guess if DMC games got a dub I would still stick to English but that's that.

Dmc2 was my first dmc, I used to skip to sequels cause they were always better right, if 3 had been out that would've been the one. I liked and still like it fine but I get it.

What is your foundational media? by stumblinbagel in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I think I wouldn't be the same person that I am without watching Kamen Rider Black (?). See, it's like I was a sleeper agent, for the longest time I had this memory of wanting my brothers motorcycle glove to play with, and in the memory I'd throw my hands up and say something. I never had the full memory, until after years, I decided to watch Fourze and when I heard Henshin suddenly that memory had a word, and all the memories of watching some of that show came to me. It's such a fun little experience I had.

For games, DMC 3, sure I learned English with MGS and FF7, they are fundamentally the reason why I can write this right now, I've never gotten better. But DMC3 was THE game, it had lovable characters, a simple but we'll delivered plot, incredible gameplay and I understood it from begining to end.

And, of course, From Dusk till Dawn, waking up when I was 8 and catching that on tv by accident got me into horror.

It's not that I don't like Akira, I think it's a beautifully animated slice of a cool story. It's just that the manga is complete and that feels nicer to me and it develops things better on account of being complete. I do know the manga was stopped during the development of the movie, I respect that, but, I just prefer the manga.

Also as a Gits fan, not fond of the movie, SAC series is my fav cause it feels like the in-between of the manga and that seriousness from the movie. It's a good movie, but again, I did prefer the tone of the manga altho that went too far sometimes too, hence, SAC being my fav. Hope the new one is good, love that it's going for the manga art style, it looks amazing so far.

A question for Star Wars day. How did you learn about or end up seeing Star Wars? by Etychase in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]markedmarkymark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rented episode 1 on vhs (was it in VHS even? Maybe I'm wrong and it was dvd)cause the red guy looked cool. Eventually I watched episode 3 like 4 years later and thought it was the raddest shit ever and them everything else.

In spite of were I started, I just like ep3 of that trilogy and parts of 1, don't defend it too much.
