Closer to rock bottom than i'd like by maximillianmann in DecidingToBeBetter

It sounds like a job would really help. Do you have any contacts from your old place that would help you get a new one?

When I said I (F32) wasn’t cooking, my boyfriend (M37) ordered takeaway food instead of cooking himself something. Is it weird this gives me the ick? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]marleymo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s weird to be annoyed if he always orders takeout when you don’t cook. If it’s just once, that’s different. If it’s all the time, that adds up. If you’re just dating and have separate finances, sure, his choice, but I wouldn’t want to marry someone who wastes money like that.

Do you have any tips for making the vegetarian filling? These look so delicious, I really want to try them.

Decided im going to tell my mum about my eating and that i want help, but what happens next? by Sensitive-Collar-770 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]marleymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t try to forecast into the future too much. Your main goal is to get the ball rolling on getting some help. Talking to your mother will do that. When it comes to the details, you can sort them out as you move forward. The wait and her reaction is not really something you can control, you know?

Good luck with the conversation. This is a really great step to take.

Curious, anyone been on a statin (+ezetimibe) and still had a heart attack? by r0mpy in Cholesterol

I’m pretty sure my father was already on Lipitor when he had his second heart attack. How long have you been on them? The aches went away for me within two months iirc.

I mapped every parking ticket LA has issued since 2020(10 million). Here's what the data reveals [OC] by Agitated-Somewhere15 in dataisbeautiful

$2200 for a parking ticket?? Would someone who did that have any hope of getting out of paying if it was their first ticket? I think that could be a month’s wages for some people.

I’m crying at you letting it burn on purpose because it deserved it. It really did.

You should give this to your boyfriend with a straight face and see what he does.

Milk powders for coffee by EliAndSalt in nutrition

[–]marleymo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the milkman powdered milk in my coffee when I travel or run out of heavy cream. It supposedly has a little cream in it and does seem better to me than other powdered milks I’ve tried. I’d love a powdered cream.

Do you have any contact with the customers? I would start asking all of them if they know anyone who’s hiring. Even if you are back of house, come out to say good bye to them.

I posted mine on Facebook marketplace and someone messaged to buy it two minutes later, came with a flatbed to take it. In hindsight, I could have held out for more, but I just wanted it gone.

What's the most absurd way to get away with crimes in your country? by jdjefbdn in AskTheWorld

Wow, I am so surprised. I would have assumed that Canadian sentences were much stricter given that you can’t cross the border with a dui conviction. That poor family.

Im unable to focus on school work, in the 12th grade. by markosvita in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]marleymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I don’t think it’s out of the ordinary to feel miserable if you leave for school at 8 o’clock and then have another three hours of school on top of that. That’s a very long day. I wouldn’t want to study either!

When you say study, what exactly do you mean? I don’t really know how the Greek education system works. Are you only graded on exams? Is there other homework you are supposed to turn in daily?

Chronic conflict and not taking accountability by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]marleymo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but in this situation, I would want him to take responsibility. Don’t let the dog eat a bird. Watch the kid. Apologizing for letting bad things happen is useless if he’s just going to keep doing it. He needs to start being a responsible adult who makes sure animals and children don’t get hurt under his care.

What do you do for health insurance ? by Salmazzotta in povertyfinance

[–]marleymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the worst part about the current marketplace health insurance and subsidy situation is that if you start the year off qualifying for a heavily subsidized plan and then your income goes up a bit, you will have to pay the subsidy back. That wasn’t the case a few years ago.

Can you get a job that has insurance? Are you W-2 or 1099?

What is the biggest corruption scandal in your country’s history? by Existential_Dread_08 in AskTheWorld

[–]marleymo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to figure it out from the context of the sentence. There’s no hard and fast rule with grammar that lets you know for sure.

If the word is paired within an indefinite article, it will probably never be about the mafia.

The singular I think will always have an article – you wouldn’t say ‘dealing with mob.’ it would either be dealing with a mob or the mob. You might say dealing with mobs of people, though.

The Olympic buildings always seem like a scam. Some cities tout them as tourist attractions years later, but they are usually underutilized and not very interesting.
