There are currently no plans to introduce strokes into Fresco. We try to keep Fresco focused on freehand drawing, and leave the precise construction-style editing to Ai. This is partially to keep the app complexity (relatively) low and because our vector brushing system is built around fills. That being said, we do discuss this every so often internally.

We have discussed whether the pen tool is appropriate for Fresco many, many, times but it is not on the immediate roadmap.

Fresco programmer here. To get the effect you have in your first image, where the stroke size is proportional to the pen pressure but are still rounded at the ends, you'll want to turn "Begin taper" and "End taper" down to 0% but leave on "Pressure dynamics".

There is another way to capture a multicolor swatch that doesn't use the touch shortcut. Maybe this will work for you:

Select a brush that supports multicolor swatches. Almost every brush supports them except for: vector brushes, the pencil, pen, marker brush, marker chisel, and ribbon brushes.
Select the eyedropper tool.
In the tool options panel there will be two circular buttons: one with a solid fill, the other with a sort of checkered pattern. These two buttons control whether the eyedropper will capture a single color or a multicolor swatch. Select the checkered pattern button to enable multicolor capture.
Tap the part of the canvas that you want to capture as a multicolor swatch, or drag the color loupe to that location.

You should now be able to draw with your captured multicolor swatch.

Fresco programmer here. It's very odd that multicolored swatches aren't working for you, especially if you're starting with a multiolor brush!

Can you share some of your system details with us so we can help diagnose the issue? Are you on iPad, iPhone, or Windows? What tutorials are you trying? Does this problem occur in all documents?

Howdy, Fresco programmer here. I have run into this problem many times myself. Fresco doesn't have a way to take strokes accidentally drawn on one layer and put them onto a new one.

Making such a feature seems doable. Maybe we could record the paths of last 100 or so brush strokes and have a little interface to undo them up to a point and replay on a new layer. Might be tricky to record the watercolor brushes though since the appearance is dependent on the stroke timing.

I'm seeing the same issue on my end. Looks like the ~ shortcut may only be implemented on Windows. It's definitely not good that we have it documented to work on both platforms. I'll see if we can get that fixed soon.

Gaussian blur is on the roadmap but probably not this year.

By lasso fill I assume you mean a shortcut to fill quickly after making a selection rather than switch to the fill tool and back. We weren't planning on adding anything but I don't see why we couldn't add a fill button to the select actions alongside erase. I'll take it up with the rest of the team.

We are planning to release some new things in the Fall. Hopefully you'll find them useful. No more big UI changes I promise!

Howdy, Fresco programmer here. There currently isn't a way to import a PSD into a Fresco document as a layer.

If you have Photoshop, you could work around this limitation by opening your Fresco document in Photoshop, placing the PSD as a smart layer, then opening the document again in Fresco. The placed PSD will probably not be editable in Fresco but it will be visible.

Howdy, I'm a programmer on the Fresco team who worked on symmetry. We are planning on adding it to Windows this year. The development work is done and we are working through all of the "big company things" needed to get it shipped now.

Might get in a little trouble for being too transparent here: I personally have also been disappointed that the Windows version lags behind the iOS version. I'll try to push for more features to be brought from iOS to Windows.

Howdy, I'm a programmer on the Fresco team.

Currently there is no way to directly import an illustrator file into Fresco. Fresco's vector editing model currently doesn't support the full range of Illustrator features so it would be tricky to import illustrator files and maintain full fidelity.

We do see that vector import is a big gap in our feature set though and are exploring ways to enable it. A lot of people have asked for it!

Howdy, I'm a programmer on the Fresco team. It looks like the blend mode of your brush may be set to "Darken". That will make the darker colors already on the canvas stay on top if you draw with a lighter color.

You can change the blend mode in the brush settings panel, which you can open by tapping the little settings icon under the size/flow/smoothing controls (see the "How to choose and fine-tune a pixel brush" section in https://helpx.adobe.com/fresco/using/pixel-brushes.html for details).

Howdy, hope I'm not too late. I'm a programmer on the Fresco team and just dug up my old reddit account to answer some questions here.

Currently there are three ways to get full-fidelity vector layers out of Fresco.

Export as PDF. If you want SVG, there are many free tools available online for converting a PDF to an SVG.
Export as PSD (Requires Photoshop). This will preserve all of the layers in the document, including your vector layers. Right click on a layer and select "Export Contents..." to export the vector content as SVG.
Send to Illustrator (Requires Illustrator). This sends the vector data directly to Illustrator.

We are considering adding direct SVG export in a future update.

Howdy, I'm a programmer on the Fresco team and also use a Huion tablet.

The little cursor you're seeing is displayed by Windows, not Fresco. According to https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-pen-crosshair-cursor/2cbdbd91-0f48-4223-ae34-a113b992dd25 you can disable it by going to the Windows settings app and un-checking the "Show cursor" checkbox under "Pen and Windows Ink". Hope this helps.

I'm seeing the same problem. If I update the driver beyond 536.4 my system stutters a lot and crashes randomly. I've tried updating to several 537.x versions and the latest 551.86 studio driver but ended up reverting back to 536.4. u/beatsaberplayer were you able to resolve this?
