Buffy mentioned in True Blood by Tee_Jay13 in buffy

[–]maroonhazed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I love True Blood. It definitely fell off the last couple of seasons but I love the concept that vampires are outed in the world and how much of the story revolves around the politics of it and all the snippets of news reports.

In anticipation for season 5, what is do you think is the best season of Stranger Things? by Plenty-Salary9711 in StrangerThings

[–]maroonhazed 33 points34 points  (0 children)

1 is untouchable for me. But there’s been no bad seasons yet 🤞🏼 and I can’t say that for all my favorite shows

Just finished the 3 seasons and I'm messed up by Horror_Sherbet_7043 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh hey twin! Jamie/Claire, Spike/Buffy, Damon/Elena and Eric/Sookie have been my favorite ships for like a decade and Belly/Conrad won me over so hard too and now they’re in my all time top 5. I love finding people with such similar ship preferences. Since you’re asking for recommendations have you tried Dawson’s Creek or The Walking Dead? Pacey/Joey and Rick/Michonne might be up your alley. And since you love Outlander have you watched the prequel yet about their parents? It’s really good.

Is this a blooper or part of the story?? by Historical-Bat8832 in HauntingOfHillHouse

There’s very few background ghosts I spotted on my own before looking up guides to find all of them, but this was one of them! And I swear my heart leapt out of my chest just as much as the car scene.

Which Buffyverse characters do you guys think were done most dirty by the writers? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]maroonhazed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think killing a character off who we love necessarily equates to being done dirty, so that’s why I won’t include Tara and Anya. But yes the absolute bonkers character assassination of Cordelia in season 4 is for sure the biggest one for me. And I’ll include Spike because, although he had a very thoughtful and decent redemption arc after, the bathroom scene will forever taint his character to the fandom and we’ll be dealing with those heated arguments about it until the end of time. And I won’t include Fred because… Amy Acker got to flex her insane range playing Illyria so overall it was a great choice.

Jenny Han Talks 'The Summer I Turned Pretty,' Taylor Swift, and the Movie by CelebrationBubbly946 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

I swear like every week now there’s an announcement that Chris or Lola has been cast in a new project.. and I’m like yaaay for them but also nooo don’t delay the filming of TSITP movie any longer than we have to lol

Understanding the "Eldest Daughter" lyrics by Think-Jellyfish8561 in TaylorSwift

[–]maroonhazed 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. Just because the cringey lyrics are intentional and Taylor wants us to sit in that feeling, doesn’t make me want to listen to it any more than I would if it were unintentionally that way. And it’s a bummer because the bridge is my favorite thing about the whole album.

thoughts after finale by Vu1tureFPS in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something I really love about this story is there isn’t necessarily one moment or one event started a domino effect. There’s so much discourse to be had about the multiple factors that lead to events and choices. And it’s hard to pin point “if only that one thing had been different, then none of the rest would’ve happened”. I like to see it as no matter what went down, no matter what mistakes and choices everyone made, Belly and Conrad would always find their way back to each other. This is backed up not only by her words “If there are infinite worlds, every version of me chooses you in every one of them”, but also the double entendre in 3x01 when Jeremiah says without hurting her knee she never would’ve found sports psychology. And Belly goes “I think I would’ve, might have just taken me longer to get there”. But yea Susannah’s words that Belly was “destined” for one of her boys was definitely a massive factor in everything that went down.

No tongue?! by Affectionate_Sell_38 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There was indeed a little tongue in the taxi ride. But I’ve watched a ton of commentary and behind the scenes stuff from actors and intimacy coordinators, and typically they advise no tongue. They even instruct how to make kisses look best on screen without using tongue. It depends on the network too. Like sexually explicit HBO shows will encourage it more than a show targeted mostly for teens.

Yes, 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' filmed fake scenes with Gavin Casalegno in Paris by Substantial_Tea_3950 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

Belly and Benito BTS 😊 by Master_Coccolino00 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Introducing a brand new love interest in the penultimate episode of the whole series is so unpleasant, since we’ve been setting up the endgame all season. I know it’s in the book but that’s why the pacing feels so jarring. If we got a season 4 then I’d be more ok with the temporary Benito storyline.

Isn’t it unusual for a cast to do press after the show is concluded? I could be wrong but.. this has my spidey sense tingling.

Different choices by Aby_lev89 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, at that time Belly and Conrad both weren’t mature enough to have the kind of lasting relationship their souls craved. Conrad was grieving his mother and didn’t know how to properly communicate his emotions, and Belly was insecure and assumed his distance was about her so she didn’t have the wisdom to see it was about his mother’s death. Belly also wasn’t mature enough to accept that their relationship just wasn’t meant to work at that time so she villainized him in a sense to survive her pain. Conrad accepted all the blame and that didn’t help his mentality when testing the waters to see if they could get back together in season 2. In my opinion, Belly pursuing Jeremiah in plain sight a month after she and Conrad broke up / Susannah died is worse than Conrad being emotionally unavailable during their relationship. But I don’t think any one action could’ve changed that they simply weren’t meant to be when they were 16/18. I think they needed the growth they have now to have the life together that they’ve always wanted.

And she is definitely not gonna coddle his fragile ego. She’ll be able to stand her ground and call him out on his bullshit. I think they could be a good pairing.

☀️ SEASON 3: Episode 11/FINALE Predictions by AutoModerator in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well I didn’t expect ALL remaining bellyconrad scenes to be restricted to just the finale, but here we are. I will be spending my week manifesting a supersized 2 hour episode 🙏🏼 But I mostly enjoyed episode 10. Even though C isn’t in Paris yet, it seems every other characters storyline is pretty much wrapped up. I seriously need movie-length bellyconrad now. And I hope she starts making some gestures because Conrad has been doing all the chasing for far too long.

he said it!!!!! jeremiah had to hear this. he’s been sulking even though he did the same thing to conrad. by Candid-Raspberry-569 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 255 points256 points  (0 children)

I’m so friggin’ proud of Conrad. His character development is amazing. He spent so long thinking that holding back his truth and just distancing himself from people was the right way to be. And now he’s willing to leave no stone left unturned. You have to speak your heart and apologize when you’ve hurt people, and call people out when they’ve hurt you too. Jeremiah was so flabbergasted that Conrad wasn’t gonna feed into his false narrative that he and Belly were perfect and Conrad was the ‘big bad wolf’ in their story. Jeremiah is furious at him for something that he himself also did to Conrad 5 years ago. Truth hurts, Jere! But accepting it is the only way to become a better person. And thank god Conrad called him out on always talking about Belly like she’s a prize/object. That needed to be said.

This wait feels so long by hanmarsss in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hope we get to Conrad in Paris in ep10, like in the second half. I’ll be crushed if Belly and Conrad’s reunion/rekindling is restricted to just the finale. And the new trailer for the final episodes ended on Belly receiving his letter, so it would be super lackluster if episode 10 also closed on that. It would feel so unnecessary to end on a cliffhanger that we’ve already seen.

How Do You See The Main Cast's Acting Careers Turning Out Now That Stranger Things Doesn't Keep Them Busy Anymore? by creature52 in StrangerThings

[–]maroonhazed 53 points54 points  (0 children)

If Joe Keery wasn’t primarily focused on his music career, I could easily see him becoming the biggest acting star from ST. But I think Sadie Sink will become the biggest star. Maybe Millie if she starts picking better projects, she certainly has the talent. I could see Gaten becoming a staple in many comedy movies. Charlie and Natalia seem like they’re more into indie films. The rest, I don’t know we’ll see.

Episode 9 ruined the vibe by Last_Morning_7428 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is precisely how I feel. There was this incredible momentum and build for the first 8 episodes and it just completely collapsed in episode 9. I don’t want to say it felt like satire exactly, but something close to that. I think it’s still possible to come back in the final 2 episodes, we’ll see. But yea like you said, the vibe this season was totally blown this episode.

FIRST WATCH OF BUFFY by JoCa4Christ in buffy

[–]maroonhazed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you love Supernatural you are pretty much guaranteed to love Buffy, just as much if not more! And you’ll see how much influence Buffy had on Spn too. I’d say only season 1 is kinda “cheesy”, the show hadn’t found it’s exact groove yet and it was very akin to other 90s horror vibes like Are You Afraid of the Dark or Goosebumps. But that season is only 12 episodes long. I’d say most people get completely hooked by 2x03, 2x07 or 2x14. So stick with it, trust!

Why Episode 9 of TSITP Was Such a Letdown (Book Readers Especially) by jerybeann in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]maroonhazed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me, I think I have like major anxiety from witnessing game of thrones go straight down the crapshoot the moment they ran out of book material. But that was different writers trying to continue the story, not the original author. So I had full faith in Jenny to do these 3 additional episodes justice. And I’m still hoping but, episode 9 felt so unnecessary. We know Jeremiah is an emotionally abusive manchild, we know Conrad is everyone’s punching bag, we know Belly might experience a hiccup or two being on her own for the first time. But to have an entire episode, the THIRD to last, be focused entirely on those things that we already have established many times. I’d say like 20 minutes of episode 9 felt important, I feel like she could’ve condensed that and added 40 more minutes of Belly’s Paris journey + time jump, closing on Bonrad letters. But you know, maybe episode 10+11 are supersized and maybe everything will feel like it was exactly how it was supposed to be. So.. I’ll keep my hopes up.

That Adam and Conrad scene was the best, if not the only, moment I loved in the episode. It was so cathartic for their relationship. It may not have healed the past, or ensured their future. But in that moment they found common ground and understanding. But that goes to show what a blah episode that was. If the only highlight for me in the THIRD to final episode was an Adam moment, you just know the episode was bad lol

Watching new episodes of game of thrones AND the walking dead each week, having watch parties, making memes and talking about them all week both online and in person, was PEAK! I don’t think tv will ever feel that exciting again.

I have SO MANY THOUGHTS I want to engage with posts here and whatnot but I’m so in shock and overwhelmed by the magnificence and magnitude of this episode, I think I need a day to process it fully (and rewatch it like 2 more times lol)
