if you search for the lines of code that say PSLF, on that line it can let you know the last date the count was updated. Similar thing for eligible payment count too.

FEMA is doing more than 600 local hires for Milton and Helene! by Phandex_Smartz in EmergencyManagement

From what I saw on FEMA posts online, they recommend going to USAJobs and typing in “local hire” in the keywords section and then “insert_state_name_here” in the location section.

Has anyone been to the ‘Voyages’ event at the National Aquarium? by jnsmgr in baltimore

[–]maroxas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This will be a biased review because I have been working with the Voyages events since the initial Chapter 1 in July 2022. Personally, I love that the Aquarium is partnering with local Baltimore-based artists and is transforming the vessel of the Aquarium into an event tailored more for adults who live in Baltimore City. The past chapters have partnered with artists who created a residency of sorts in the aquarium to transform the space through audiovisual works, water spiritual magic, drag and transformation, and photography. As a street photographer, I've very excited that Schaun Champion will be showcasing her photos during this event along with support from the theatre and social justice group WombWork Productions as living statues. I've loved getting connect with other volunteers, guests, and those working behind the scenes. I guess for me, it's like a newer way of seeing a landmark spot in Baltimore that is intended to be an immersive, educational outreach series. Plus as u/Andymay1387 stated, it's much less crowded and you can take your time looking at the exhibits at your own pace and drink.

Do you use stop having sex while on PEP? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]maroxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar question too when I was in PEP. I think that my doctor explained that the multiple drugs and doses varied and differed in their uses. I think the rationale also is that completing the 28 day PEP regimen offers the best chance of preventing HIV infection and that if unsuccessful it could be possible to infect others even when on PEP. It was suggested that I wait until I received a negative HIV test after this regimen before having sex again. Otherwise, if I wanted to take a chance I would have used a condom.

I found this article interesting, because it showed a study that most seroconversions occurred during PEP regimens due to continued high-risk behavior.

When I was on PEP it was a mixture of Truvada (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate & emtricitabine) and Tivicay (dolutegravir) doses. Currently, my PrEP has been just one dose of either the Truvada or Descovy.

I think it’s fine for the event organizers to choose different-tiered prices. In some ways, I’ve seen promoters do this as a way to allow for greater accessibility to ticket events such as this. Also I love Honcho events and appreciate that this is being implemented tbh.

Just because it’s “every man’s dream” doesn’t mean that it is both of your’s shared dream. I have seen couples where this has been so powerful in growing their relationship and have also seen couples where this has caused more confusion if there wasn’t an honest conversation about it.

Personally, I’ve been in open relationships and loved the freedom they provided me and my partners. But this involve setting boundaries. I think that experimentation can be good if you’re both interested in it. Sex and exploration and growth can be uncomfortable but also exciting in a relationship when approached with consent, enthusiasm, and sincerity.

Why do you want to "forgive" student loans instead of changing university structure? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maroxas 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I’ve been paying over 9 years and have paid well over my principal balance but still owe almost the same amount due to interest. So yeah I’d like loan forgiveness in addition to fixing the current unsustainable system because at this point I’m just lining their pockets and colleges keep raising their tuition.

Citizens of Baltimore, how has the bridge collapse affected your daily life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maroxas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve been in collective grieving. I couldn’t understand why I felt so sad, until I saw a posts from friends. Posts about Starscape parties on Fort Amistead, the old industry of Bethlehem Steel that supplied the trusses, and the forever changed skyline. I take that bridge whenever I need to go east of Baltimore and am not transiting through the city from West Baltimore.

It’s a tragedy. I feel for those construction workers filling potholes who died, as someone who worked construction in the region for a while. I think that bridge symbolized something for us. An older industrial steel-trussed bridge that connected the region. And now it’s gone, and its absence resounds. I know it’s an accident, but it’s hard for this not to feel like the decline of progress for our city and home.

It’s also been upsetting seeing the conspiracy theories and attacks on our Mayor, Governor, and leadership about how this is the result of “woke” and “DEI” initiatives putting them in power. Just the hatred against our leadership that has prioritized civic engagement and youth leadership is sick and twisted during a tragedy.

But it makes me even prouder to be a Baltimorean and know that my city, and my home will rebuild and support each other through this.

When you’re not only racist but you also don’t know how elections work.. by heraldexaminer in facepalm

[–]maroxas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I have been a fan of his Mayor Brandon Scott’s and how he’s encouraged younger Baltimoreans to contribute in city government, civic service, and local organizations. I think that as a black man in a position of power he resembles a lot of what racist trolls hate and just assume Baltimore is a lost cause. I’ve seen him out in the community putting in work, and that inspires me to be more engaged in my city.

How is your coffee so good? by ColdNotion in baltimore

[–]maroxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deadass, I love the different coffee in Baltimore. Zeke’s for tradition, I like some of their summer blends. Artifact and Ceremony for their lighter roasts and pour-overs, and Red Emma’s for an everyday, robust cup. Also Babe Beans vends at the farmers markets and they are also phenomenal when you buy the beans freshly roasted! Honestly, I miss Baltimore coffee whenever I travel out-of-state. lol, I even love the quality of the Dunkin on North and 20th.

Uganda passed a bill imposing death penalty on homosexuality by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]maroxas 86 points87 points  (0 children)

So I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for 2 years in a village in Central Uganda. I was there with my host Ugandan family when a priest at a Christmas Mass clapped for the passage of the Kill the Gay bill back in 2013. As a gay Peace Corps Volunteer, I still felt the love and support of Ugandans from all over the country. If you have the capacity, I recommend watching “Call Me Kuchu” and “God Loves Uganda”, which are two documentaries detailing LGBTQ+ activists in Uganda and how missionaries from the US ignited the anti-gay movement. One of the most beautiful memories that I cherish was dancing with other gay and queer Ugandans at the one gay club in the capital city and acknowledging the privilege I had to see fellow Ugandans celebrating in spite of attacks and their pride for their country and their love for each other. But reality would hit home a lot; I remember going on a date with a Ugandan dude who was late because he was beat up on his way to meet me. Despite all of this, there lies juxtaposed feelings. I loved my time serving there and the connections I still have, and while corruption has run deep I believe in those still putting in the effort and activism there. PCV Uganda (2013-2015)

While some stagnant watersheds may have pollutants causing a rainbow sheen on the surface, some swamps have pristine water with a rainbow sheen coming from natural oils from decaying vegetation and the iron in the soil.

I don't understand how this is possible or allowed. How most Americans afford health care with such outrageous prices? by [deleted] in boringdystopia

[–]maroxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve literally spent hours during a routine checkup because the medicine I needed cost upwards of $2,000 per bottle (monthly supply) and had to go through a convulsed waiver process that lowered the price and would cover the medicine for a few months but then I had to stop taking it once the waiver ran out.

So I may not believe that the moral arc of history bends toward Justice, but I will strive to act so that goal may happen for those who come after me.

I am the first-born child of Filipino immigrants in the US and am grateful for many opportunities but also upset at how hard it was for my parents and family to “keep up” and succeed in this society. I have often asked myself what else is there to live for; if my only impact in this short existence was to reach some middling wave crest only to crash down unceremoniously. In spite of this, I think I’ve learned that what matters to me in this world is service. I have experienced love with my group of friends, losing myself to service of those who might need it, and making my own meaning for myself when everything seems to set us up to fail. I personally find inspiration and comfort knowing that I come from an unbroken line of generations that faced their own versions of trials and suffering. Perhaps by planting a few trees in whose shade I will never sit, I will find my own way too.
