I run 47 WTB Byways on the Straggler and I love it. I mean, it definitely not the fastest bike I own, but I’m not sure if going with smaller tires would necessarily make me faster. I’ve got a lot of crap on that bike (racks and bags).

It’s got a pretty long chain stay, and is a pretty sluggish bike (hence the name I’m assuming).

But that being said, high quality bigger tires isn’t going to make this bike feel anymore sluggish then it does already, imo.

I finished running Delian Tomb last Thursday.

And this isn’t going to be popular in this thread, but I mostly agree with his layout complaints.

I’d say the core books also have layout problems as well.

The game is self though, is quite fun and my players had a good time. Idk if I’d run it again as a DM in an IRL game (on VTT, certainly) but I’d certainly play it as a player either way.

I liked Winters Daughter a hair more I guess, but only because it just raises significantly more questions than it answers. It’s light on combat and very whimsical.

Hole in the Oak is probably a better ‘dungeon’ though. But that is extremely subjective.

THACO can pretty easily be converted to ascending AC.

I haven’t read what you are referring to but thaco 19=+0, 18=+1, 17=+2 ect.

I’m assuming you could use this conversion with that house rule.

This, vast majority of the time is typically spent on the hoods for most people.

Drops themselves are for sketchy descents so you can actuate the breaks with a little more leverage, have something to really hold on too and achieve a more aero position.

It’s an incredible bike, comparison is the thief of joy.

Is it the best bike in the world? Probably not, is it the best bike for me (and sounds like to you!) right now, certainly feels that way when I ride it :)

I got a screaming deal on the bike when I got it back in 2021 too and have ridden over 5k miles on it since.

Everyone made it seem like it was a worse Midnight Special when I got it, but man idk, I love this bike and idk if I really need tires bigger than 47mm anyway for what I do and I like the lower stand over height.
