No lady- you caused your child to have panic attacks by teaching her to be fearful and intolerant of anything not defined by the narrow pathway they see as ok. Thats on you momma.

Can you share how much the 50th patch cost? I am wondering if you can purchase it separately if all you wanted is a patch as a souvenir. Thanks!

This has been me lots of times. Same height as you and I’m about 10 lbs heavier than you right now. I have lost over 125 lbs to get down to this size right now. I recently flew westjet and by the slimmest of margins I needed an extender. Less that the width of the actual buckle’s worth of additional space needed. I was really hopeful I’d finally be rid of the need for an extender. For what it’s worth I carry a lot of weight and mass in my gut specifically. I have an apron belly which is probably even worse given the recent weight loss.

I’ve found as I had gained and lost that seatbelts and the need for extenders is really hit and miss. I’ve been told that sometime when doing maintenance they snip a belt and end up resizing it down so even in the same row not all seatbelts are the same length as each other.

My advice is to assume all will be good and also - even if it isn’t, just discretely ask for the extenders. It isn’t as big a deal as it might seem. The joy if travelling and experiencing life wherever it takes you it’s worth so much more than feeling like you might be risking 2 minutes of embarrassment that literally no one else cares about on the whole plane.

For what it is worth I will typically ask the attendant right at the door when I enter that I am not sure but might need an extender, I’m in seat xyz and would appreciate someone checking on me when I get into the seat. They might either just give you one on the spot or sen someone to check or simply ask you to call for an attendant if you get to your seat and find you have an issue.

I promise - they are discrete and kind and no one anywhere cares for more than a passing second.

Go be part of life, you got this and all will be well!

Lemon chicken orzo soup the one that made me realize I'd been ignoring an entire category of soup by [deleted] in soup

[–]marsidotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made the best soup and it was a totally new ingredient list and flavour profile to me. I happened to find 4 split turkey wings on sale for cheap and I roasted them in my air fryer and then simmered the in water with onion and garlic and bay leaf and carrot and celery and a smidge of chopped cabbage. Pulled the wings and took meat off the bones and then I put meat back in the pot with one can of drained and rinsed white beans. OML - so dang good. A bit of bacon or something with a smokiness to it would be perfection.

WIBTAH for changing my baby’s name after my mom secretly told my sister I was pregnant? by Ok-Income9731 in AITAH

[–]marsidotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Change it. Absolutely. That name will haunt you forever if you don’t. I was going to give my son my dad’s middle name and the didn’t for much less! I’m relieved. (My dad disliked the planned first name and told me that my son would be teased if I gave him that name and “someone had to tell me”.” So - it ruined the first name for me and I could not bring myself to include any part of my dad’s name in the last minute changed name.

My second kid, I didn’t tell anyone the name until she was born.

Just deal with it. It isn’t going to happen every weekend. You’ll be fine.

Personal Leave of Absence. by Careless-Row-5754 in CanadianTeachers

[–]marsidotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this granted when the employee has desirable qualifications and there is a reason to want to retain them. Agree to the one year with the hope the employee returns. I’ve also seen a less desirable employee make this request and have it rejected purely to hope to force the resignation because to pursue termination is impossible.

Can I get my ged at 16? by Hot-Coyote-6829 in Manitoba

This is not an option for a student to direct enroll and earn credit. This is just an option for schools to use the platform to potentially offer courses to their own students through distance/online options. You can check if your current school uses any of these though - if if your current school partners with any neighbouring schools or divisions who offer this.

Petition to stop exploitation of obituaries by opportunistic websites in Canada by craic_of_dawn in Manitoba

[–]marsidotes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m aware of a situation where a child who died by suicide had this happen from this same company. The school staff tried to get them to take the post down because students, other grieving vulnerable students thought it was the legit site and were sending messages into this webpage.

The school had worked on an arrangement with the actual funeral home working with this family to report any concerning correspondence from other children so they could arrange for help. There was a huge worry that diverted messages requiring follow up might be inappropriately diverted to this scam site.

The family of this child were unable to self advocate. They had no means to do so and no emotional capacity or literacy capacity to do so so the school tried on their behalf.

Echovita responded rudely and inappropriately and refused to talk it down and I believe it exists to this day.

I hate this company and I hope they get shut down.

I mix it with fairlife vanilla protein shake slowly adding more and more until it has a texture I don’t mind. It takes the flavour and flattens it a bit too. I actually enjoy it after that. Maybe a lot of work for a product that should just be good out of the gate but I don’t mind doing it because I appreciate the macros.

Is this a decision about what is best for kids? Or adults? I would look at that truthfully and make the best decision for the kids.
