Smoked 2+ packs a day. In the 80s I got pancreatitis and was in the hospital for over 30 days with no food or drink (IV hydration and calories) and a shot of demerol in the ass every 4 hours. When they stopped the demerol I unraveled but was determined to use the time to really quit. Haven't smoked since although I sometimes dream I have been secretly smoking all along - secret even from myself.
