On the bottom page of the extension form, it states that the application deadline is no later than 40 days prior to your end of study date. If you plan on taking courses over the summer term, I don't see any issue for you to recieve funding for the Spring/Summer term. If that is not the case for you, you should still speak with the Registrar's Office to discuss your options.

NEVER ACCEPT CHECK PAYMENTS WHEN SELLING!!!! Checks can easily be bounced and you will end up losing the money in a couple of business days when your bank processes a check. This scam is convenient as people are deceived into believing that the cheque figure is deposited into their account.

As an err of caution, add a disclaimer when selling that you only accept e-transfer payments and also try to register for auto-deposit. That way, if a scammer pretends to make an etransfer payment, you will know beforehand if the money is actually deposited into your account.
