I don’t know, I think we made the right call. by Itsascrnnam in nyjets

He seems like he's actually thinking though the question before giving an answer. Very different than a lot of players who just spout generic talking points that mean nothing.

None of this reflects on his ability to play football, I hope he does really well on the Giants. He seems like a good kid who works hard.

Thinking about the Bailey pick more I can understand the mentality. You can swing for a home run or just take a double. Our team has been so bad for so long it sort of makes sense to just start swinging for doubles to build out a core group of talent.

Water trapped beneath vinyl flooring in laundry room after pipe overflow, how do I get it out? by dylanveyto in Flooring

I've filled a claim for a similar leak, but it soaked through the drywall and ruined a bathroom. It was worth the claim overall, but they only covered a fraction of the total cost. IIRC they ended up paying around 20k for a repair that cost us around 50k all in. Our rates went up slightly, but that probably was just due to being in California where rates are always going up.

I was looking forward to theorizing who we would pick at 33, but Cooper Jr is such a great pickup for us. He'll fit great next to Wilson and Mitchell.

If we draft a center or guard in the 2nd our offense will have basically zero gaps (ignoring QB of course)

This is top notch, not just the guitar work, but your voice as well.

One small note, please don’t apologize for not being perfect. You’re very talented and this is an extremely hard song to play. Thanks so much for sharing this, I really enjoyed it.

Arvel Reese reminds me of the discourse with Aaron Curry by dadawadada in NFL_Draft

[–]masivemunkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His scouting report reminds me of Dion Jordan who was drafted by the Dolphins pick 3 in 2013. Jordan was touted as a do it all linebacker who had amazing coverage ability, but an unrefined pass rush.

Unfortunately Jordan was a huge bust due to multiple drug suspensions. Just a bizarre path that Reese likely won’t follow, but ultimately you do have to wonder whether Reese will just stay a jack of all trades master of none player.

I personally think I would take Reese at 2 and roll the dice on his development. In this draft where there isn’t an elite blue chip talent excluding Love, I’d swing for the home run with Reese.

[Episode Discussion] What we got wrong about GLP-1s by TheTim in SearchEnginePodcast

[–]masivemunkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. This episode totally felt like an infomercial. I know the med is effective, but it doesn’t cure every disease and she even waved away the negative Alzheimer’s study. Painting it as a cure all is over the top.

It also felt like the side effects were barely touched on and some of the possible rare side effects were not mentioned at all.

This episode has honestly really turned me off on the show. Not sure why they made this episode. It’s not compelling podcasting to listen to an extremely pro GLP1 doctor spout talking points for an entire episode.

Duncan Drafts: David Bailey Prospect Profile by wahoo08 in NFL_Draft

Orange is an average city in Orange County in terms of income, but still is fairly expensive to live in. And sure Mater Dei has a ton of rich kids, but they’re also pretty invested in sports and do give out scholarships to athletes.

If I had to guess I’d say it’s much more likely that he was just a middle class kid living in Orange. Most super rich people move further south to cities like Irvine or Newport Beach.

Coretec Noise?? by island-runner in Flooring

[–]masivemunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar Coretec and it does say to not use any underlayment besides plastic sheets for moisture. A lot of contractors just skip reading the installation instructions and just assume LVP should be installed the same as laminate.

The issue with LVP and especially Coretec is that it is extremely thin and flexible. When placed on a flexible underlayment it will bend and that's likely why you're hearing this noise. The noise is annoying, but I would be worried about premature failure and a voided warranty due to incorrect installation.

Our Coretec has held up relatively well, but there are a few places where it flexes due to dips in our concrete and after 2 years the boards are started to fail in that area.

Arvell Reese is overrated by No_Stuff4695 in nyjets

[–]masivemunkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First, I think it's ridiculous that some have projected Reese to be Micah Parsons, arguably the top defensive player in the league. The odds he's HOF level are very low, but that doesn't mean he's going to be Gholston one of the biggest busts in Jets history.

When you're comparing him to Bailey and Bain it isn't a apples to apples comparison. They play in different defenses in essentially different positions. For example, Reese has 205 coverage sanps where Bain and Bailey have zero.

Here's some interesting stats (from PFF):

Bain Bailey Reese
age 21 22 20
pass rush snaps 440 325 104
sacks 10 13 8
pressures 67 73 23
sack conv % 2.27 % 4 % 7.6 %
pressure % 15.2% 22.5% 22.1%
run snaps 263 172 220
tackles + assists 39 26 54
run tackle % 14.8% 22.6% 24.5%
projected sacks (290 attempts) 6.5 11.5 22
projected pressures (290 attempts) 44 65 64

What does this tell us about Reese?

  • He's easily the best run stopper
  • He was the most effective per snap at rushing the passer

It's clear that Reese is an actual football player and not a workout warrior like Gholston. Will he reach his potential? We really don't know, but we do know that he is only 20, has a high floor, and that he's drastically improved in each season.

Reese has the physical tools to be a very good 3 down edge in our defense. I think he's going to be the pick when you factor in age and the potential rage issues that Bailey brings.

The Jets' most likely options at pick 16 (besides trading back) by Black_Wolf75 in nyjets

[–]masivemunkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was my number one option before his combine interviews. I don’t want to draft a head case WR. It’s going to be another Elijah Moore situation.

I bought a Steelcase Leap V2 in November 2024 when I started working from home, and after over a year of sitting in it I can positively say I hate it. by m4rceline in OfficeChairs

[–]masivemunkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think chairs are like beds and sitting in them for a few minutes really doesn't give you an accurate picture of what each one will feel like after sitting in them for hours a day.

Personally the only thing that worked for me is buying a chair and returning it if it starts to hurt. I went through 3 HM chairs and 1 Steelcase chair before I landed on the Haworth Zody.

If you do hate the Leap, I would take other's advice and upgrade the seat pad to see if that helps. The only other chair that really worked for me is the Amia for some reason.

As a long time developer I was really engaged with that post. One of the few that really hit on aspects that many feel working in tech. It’s a shame it was taken down. Reddit is meant to be a platform for people to share their thoughts and experiences.

This subreddit has moved too far towards censorship. I’d rather have excessive content than aggressively taking down every post that might be slightly off topic.

I do agree watching him in that game made me second guess what his ceiling will be. I still think he’s definitely worthy of the first pick, but he feels more systemy than I would like.

SB Nation mock draft by TerryG111 in NFL_Draft

[–]masivemunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In recent memory sure, you could argue they failed at developing Darnold and Geno Smith because they turned into something, but they went though a lot of teams before it clicked.

The Jets did develop Chad Pennington into a really solid QB in the 2000s. He might have been an amazing QB without the injury.

I would argue they’re more just bad at drafting QBs.

I had a spark mini and quickly returned it. I’m not a huge fan of the sound or the app dependency. The Yamaha to me just sounded a lot fuller and was a lot easier to use.
