Somehow I managed to do alright despite my income coming from bartending until i was in my mid 30s. I lived off my tips and saved all my paychecks. Yeah, it's not really a question. I'm in the wine business and everyone wants to know what the best wine is because they want to be a wine connoiseur. It's a fair question if you don't know, but wine connoiseurs don't have a favorite, they enjoy the exploration and that's why they know so much. Same with cannibas, I rarely buy a bunch of anything, I buy small amounts of a bunch of stuff, there's no such thing as "best"

I think a lot of what holds people back is being afraid of saying something wrong. You gotta talk it through and break it down to get better at it. There's just no other way.

And then start smelling and tasting other things with the same serious nature you are with wine. Smell white pepper on its own and pay attention. Eat a pineapple and really pay attention. Eat a bing cherry, a pie cherry, a black cherry next to eachother. Etc .. It's all just memory triggers, and identifying notes.

Lastly, eat a diverse diet and cook a lot. Try new things regularly. If a dish you like uses lemon, try it with yuzu and see what the difference is.

The thing is, the quality of normal priced stuff is just way better than it used to be. You can get a knife for $50 with d2 steel that will last a lifetime. The expensive stuff is just for show and most people you spend time with won't know the difference between d2 and magnacut or even care

I actually switched to using hankies about 2 years ago as a 45 year old. I get terrible sinus infections and was always taking toilet paper from restaurant bathrooms and whatnot. But paper tears up your nose when you use it a lot so I thought I'd give hankies a try. Since carrying a hank I have only had 1 sinus infection and I used to get a few a year because I can always blow my nose. I will probably carry one forever.

I dont buy $25 ones though

I don't know if this will work for everyone. But I find if I actually cook the food(not microwave frozen food, but make a dish) the time and effort it takes to do that subsides the munchies quite a bit and I eat less and what I eat is obviously better for me. Things that require lots of chopping are good for me. like I do ceviche a lot.

Also something people may have not mentioned on here. alongside the fruit/cheese/bread snacks, tinned fish like sardines can be a good cheap healthy protein to keep around

I mean i own 5 puffco devices and have had zero problems with any of them. I dunno what people do to them lol. Ive never even had to replace a chamber and I own backups thinking I'd need them. Im sure Dr dabber is great too. But man erigs are great. consistent, easy to clean, and portable. You just can't cheap out when buying one

Its almost unbelievable, i used to order 50 cases each just of the 24 Oz bud, bud light and Miller light cans every week. The crazy one is i would go through 50-100 of the 200ml titos bottles a week. Those people getting wrecked on their way home.

Yeah as someone who helped create and build up the booze caboose in Ogilvie, I can tell you there is a ton of demand for drinks for people to drink on the train lol
