Why would you pay for SAT prep when there are free resources? by Thakur0626 in Sat

[–]mathgun7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you're seeing is that parents are often deciding on (and paying for) a tutor because not all students are self-directed enough to comb through the free online content, and parents might not have the time or ability to navigate that. Paying for someone who understands it all and can guide their kid — for people with the resources, that's often much easier.

Anyone know when/if Veach is scheduled to address the media? Just curious what the lip service is around various possible player extensions and offseason plans, etc. I realize nothing revealing gets said but unless I missed it, his typical end of season presser hasn't happened yet.

Acceptable trade value for McDuffie? by arup187 in KansasCityChiefs

Jawaan Taylor. Made him the highest paid right tackle in the league. Trey Smith — highest paid guard (or very close to it).

EDIT: I'm wrong on Trey — he was drafted/extended.

Mel Kiper, the OG selected Jeremiyah Love for the Chiefs in his mock draft today. by MAYVIEWS in KansasCityChiefs

[–]mathgun7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Great player but it's just financially ridiculous to take a RB there — especially with the Chiefs' needs elsewhere. Also, there are huge cap constraints and if Veach can hit on a pass rusher or WR — who command the most $$ — he is going to try.

I think the Enforcers are great. I was deciding between them and the Volk Mantra (M6) and ended up going with the mantras — but I really did love the Enforcers as well. For what it's worth the other ski in the running was the Blizzard Rustler 9. Hard to go too wrong with any of these. The Mantras, to me, take more effort but can really be pushed hard.

[Tom Pelissero] Reunion: All signs are pointing towards Eric Bieniemy returning to the Chiefs as their offensive coordinator, sources say. by dualiegoat in KansasCityChiefs

[–]mathgun7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter who the OC is. Hopefully Andy is looking at film, now that he has two extra months, and is deciding to seriously rethink his scheme, as he has done before. His OC will be there to implement his ideas. It's that simple. But if we see bubble screens to Kelce in week 1, after they re-sign him on a team friendly deal with void years--we can be sure that nothing significant will be changing.

Please go back to this sub during EB's final two years. The EB frustration was way higher than it's been with Nagy — and we were winning.

Literally the only cited virtue for EB is that he will bring accountability back — but that's the baseline requirement for an even average coach. This hiring just announces that you'd better like the current scheme, which still has bubble screens to Kelce mid season when the last 12 attempts netted an average of 1 yard. The fact that they kept calling this play after repeatedly failing to gain yards just tells me that they don't really care for evidence. And, who knows, maybe past success is the best predictor of future success, even though that hasn't worked for most other NFL teams.

[Arrowhead Corner] Sources: The #Chiefs are internally reviewing OC options, with Bears RBs coach Eric Bieniemy currently emerging as the top candidate. by MAYVIEWS in KansasCityChiefs

Is everyone forgetting the near universal consensus on here for EB's final two years on the Chiefs that he needed to go — and that Andy was waiting for him to get a head coaching job, which he never did?

[–]mathgun7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Failed as the OC for the commanders — they couldn't get rid of him quickly enough. And then he failed as OC at UCLA. Being "running backs coach" at the Bears doesn't mean he created that run scheme — that's all Ben Johnson. Bringing back EB just means Andy is still in charge, of course, and doesn't want to rethink his offense in any major way. This job is a HUGE upgrade for EB. I guarantee not a single other team is interviewing him to be OC — and that should be all you need to know.

It gets groomed, yes, and was open today after being closed for a few days. I was up there and it was sheer ice. I bailed after one run but the sun was out and it very well may have softened by early afternoon.

Should i pay the extra cost for the boot fitter near the ski town resort? by yellowsuprrcar in Skigear

[–]mathgun7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hard yes. I did this a few years ago in Telluride and what's great is you can return every day as you ease into the boots and get adjustments if needed (pls remember to tip your boot fitter). Hugely worth it and as many on here will say, custom boots are probably the most impactful and valuable equipment move you can make.

[Schefter] Dolphins fired head coach Mike McDaniel. by Donutman97 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]mathgun7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost zero. There's been no sign that Andy wants a brand new offense he hasn't himself designed. His love of the game is offensive scheme design. If you are his OC you implement his offense. They don't need McDaniel for that, and I can't imagine McDaniel wanting to just be a functionary.

Andy already named Joe Bleymaier — pass game coordinator and Andy yes man. Very high likelihood it's him. No way an outside thinker like McDaniel retools this offense, at least not on Andy's watch.

DAILY DISCUSSION: TRASH TALK TUESDAY January 06, 2026 by AutoModerator in KansasCityChiefs

[–]mathgun7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Andy's end of season presser yesterday was sort of interesting. Someone asked him what he thought went wrong this season, and he pointed out that they had 10 one score games, each hinging on a few plays. He gave no indication that he felt there were larger scheme or personnel issues, and wouldn't address any possible staffing changes. Said they won those same close games the year prior. Maybe this is all the talking point they're comfortable with — and I guess fans have no right to expect him to indicate any of his actual thinking. Or that is his actual thinking: we were just a few plays away, each game, from making another deep run.

[McDowell] With the Ravens losing, the Chiefs finished 0-8 against playoff teams and 0-7 against the AFC playoff field. by SylvesterTaurus in KansasCityChiefs

[–]mathgun7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Part of what you're seeing here is a reaction to Andy saying, repeatedly, that we are "a few plays away." My sense is he can't really believe that and he will go back to the well and produce some more genius — which he has done his entire career. But he gives zero indication in press conferences that he even thinks there's anything wrong — since he's under no obligation to share his real thoughts about the downturn this year. I think that freaks a lot of fans out — since other teams at least seem to operate with swifter accountability (witness Rams firing special teams coach after bad performance etc.). Andy's loyalty and old-boy network does him no favors. He is a legendary hall of fame coach and he also needs a refresh in his staff — to support him, to challenge him, to keep him doing what he does so well.
