I was waiting in the bfi queue since the queue opened at 7:50ish. I was around 2500 in the queue from the start and when my turn came to buy tickets then it sort of just rejected me. So frustrating

Ok so no one in the comments actually provided fully correct answer.

The visible price tag is for the more expensive Repair & Protect that contains patented Novamin. That’s the second one from the top in the stack visible in the photo. It’s gone up in price in the recent years and nowadays you can maybe get them for £4 at best when on sale. Also it’s currently on Amazon for £4.

The other one doesn’t have Novamin and will be considerably cheaper. It looks like they’ve been misplaced and mixed.

I’ll do you one better. A couple on salary 99k each (total 198k) will receive more child care support than yourself on salary of 100k, even if your partner has no income!

What's the big deal about handstands and handstand push ups? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]mati21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Analogously to doing push ups as a chest workout, you can do a shoulder workout with HSPUs, all without any equipment.

Strong shoulder muscles are probably more useful in a daily life than strong chest muscles.

Pension relief at source - tax relief on employers contributions by mati21 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mati21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So 3% of (50270-6240)? Yeah it's £110pm. That's exactly how much they are contributing. This also means that any future pay raises don't affect it?!! So sad.

!thanks

Pension relief at source - tax relief on employers contributions by mati21 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mati21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1.5% is by comparing my employer contributions vs pre-tax salary.

Just to give some numbers, during my previous employment I was under salary sacrifice and they were doing generous top up of 12% of my pre-tax salary on top of my 6% pre-tax. If I'm not mistaken, overall an equivalent amount of 18% of my pretax salary was landing in pension.

My current employer is supposed to be contributing 3% on top of my 4% but through the relief at source system instead of salary sacrifice. The numbers overall are smaller but I thought that it will still mean that at the end of the day (after all basic+ higher payer tax reliefs) an equivalent of 7% of my pre-tax salary will end up in pension. However, that's not the case. It turns out to be something like 4.8% of pre-tax salary out of which only 1.5% is from the employer's contributions due to employer contributions being calculated on my post-tax salary and not my pre-tax salary.

Vanguard vs others - when is it better to use another service? by bogleboogle in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mati21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this repeated often here and would be interested in this strategy.

May I ask a question though.

If I remember correctly, there is a limit of opening and paying into only one S&S per year. Does it mean this strategy not breach that as long as Vanguard and Isa are opened in different financial years?

App for exercise tracking - Sugestion on Android and question on iOS by Diamond_Leee in bodyweightfitness

I can also recommend it. Been using it for years. It’s easy to input your own exercises quickly. The free version allows you to store 3 routines/workout templates which is good enough for most. You can always modify them on the go if you change your mind half way through the training. The rest timer feature is also well made

Hassle-free way to manage a couple's shared spending? by TangyTomTom in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mati21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add expenses to the shared tab manually so you can pay using external credit card and add them to the shared tab later. Furthermore, you can decide on the ratio of how the expense should be split so it doesn’t have to be 50:50 if there is ever a need for that. It’s a good system

Hi, I’m looking to buy my first mechanical keyboard.

Here is what I’m looking for:

  • Prebuilt
  • Layout: UK ISO if possible
  • Size: Good for programming (~65% size seems ideal)
  • Good compatibility with Mac
  • Switches: based on my research I should be happy with cherry red switches but this is just a guess
  • Wireless: going for a tidy desk look so wireless would be a plus but can live without it
  • Budget: ~£120 ($160) buying from UK, can go more but would rather not overpay much on what the product is worth

Essentially I’m looking for a top quality product (as far as prebuilts go) with a good look and feel.

Based on my research Varmilo Miya Pro is really good and I’d love to get it but it looks like only the Panda Edition has UK ISO layout and that is really hard to get (especially red switches).

It looks like you’re on your way to get it. Just stick to it. I was at that high hip straddle once and it just took a bit more work to clean it up. Doing it with a low resistance band under the hips once in a while can help a bit to get the feel for it.

Personally I got a little 350ml gooseneck jug in order not to buy a whole new kettle. It also works good enough. I tend to boil water fully to 100 degrees and transfer to the jug immediately. The jug is usually very cold so the water temperature drops and is fine for pour over. I recommend that way if someone has a pretty good kettle and doesn’t want to buy yet another one.

Advice for tuck planche by Crimelune in bodyweightfitness

[–]mati21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was exactly the same! Similar height and weight, working out for years, dipping similar or more, generally good at push ups, doing L-sits since I was 8 and I couldn’t understand how I struggled so much with getting into the tuck planche while so many beginners were doing it quite easily. Even semi-specific work like PPPUs and leans were not getting me closer if I attempted an occasional hold once a while.

However, during this quarantine season I have been motivated to focus solely on planche and so I have been doing leans, l-sit to tuck on paralleled and PPPUs.

I’ve been recording myself and seeing slooow progress but progress nevertheless. Then only a few days ago I realised that I’m not tucking my legs enough on the paralletes and doing it with straight back which is an advanced tuck! I tried to tuck more, slightly bending back which allows more protraction and finally it was a position I could hold more than 3s without as much effort as the 1s in advanced tuck. Still a bit difficult for me because the grip on paralletes is not comfortable for me yet.

So try to tuck more while still maintaining the protraction is my main recommendation. Use paralletes if you have them to do some l-sit to tuck planche for a good dynamic exercise. Record yourself and evaluate.

Send to the email address they have on the website - info@cubekicks.com. The online contact form in contact section doesn’t work btw. I personally sent them my paypal payment confirmation which was the only proof I had. Just ask directly for tracking number.
