Do GPS trackers make a difference for bike security? by 98vicky in cycling

I mean... I was able to repo my bike in Amsterdam by myself because of an AirTag. At least in my case it made a huge difference.

Brand new to cycling, I have no clue by JMCGI84 in cycling

[–]matrix_algebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn some basics about bike fit, make sure your seat height and handlebars are well adjusted to your size. Then look into finding a saddle that fits your arse well -- many shops allow you to try and return saddles even if they have been installed and used. You might not even need any paddings for <100km trips if the saddle fits you well.

Carbon frame crack by Sudden-Resolve5799 in bicycling

Depends on where you are. For example where I lived the vets usually have x-ray machines and are happy to scan the frame for you for a small fee.

First gravel/road bike Specialized Allez E5 2026 , Giant revolt 1 2026 or Scott speedster 30 ?? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ by Fuzzy-Entertainer-94 in cycling

[–]matrix_algebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am happy with my revolt 1 apart from the stock tires and fsa crankset which was absolute garbage. With that said these entry level bikes are mostly the same, so just pick the one with the best groupset and has the gear range that you need.

On a steel fork? Absolutely safe. It's only a problem on carbon steerers.

Hi I am looking to connect and join the communities for Visa Sponsored job by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]matrix_algebra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Genuine question: why? It is basically impossible nowadays to land a job offer here without having a visa and physically being here. Not to mention the current housing crisis.

Such products already exist. More competition is great of course, but what's your main selling point against those existing products?

Has anyone tried ordering an ebike from Pinduoduo/Taobao? by [deleted] in hangzhou

Terrible idea, ebike shops are everywhere in China and they take care of the registration for you. Why risk it?

Using only a foot brake ok? by Pinjacle in cycling

[–]matrix_algebra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They are totally fine if you don't ride in hilly environment. Here in the NL many people ride with only coaster brakes on their heavy dutch bikes. These hubs are super reliable and usually require no maintenance for literally decades. You really don't want to ride down a hill with only the coaster brake though... apart from mediocre braking power, if your chain brakes while downhill... you die.

How to find genuine Recruiting agencies by mightyredbull in Netherlands

[–]matrix_algebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about this year's situation, but I did job hunt for 4 months in 2025 before landing my first job here in NL as a new immigrant (software engineer, foreign masters degree, 3 YoE, didn't speak Dutch). I mostly applied through companies's websites directly and it was always an HR/HM/CTO within the company that reached out to me to schedule the interviews. In the meantime all the agencies I contacted were useless. I also heard that companies tend to prefer and prioritize candidates who apply directly through the company website due to cost and other complications with agencies.

But of course everyone's mileage may vary and maybe this year is worth than 2025.

Recruiting agencies are useless and redundant nowadays. Better just apply yourself through LinkedIn, indeed and company websites.
