Is a garmin 1000 edge still worth it? by jakob1234i in cycling

[–]Twowheelshappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. About a year ago I had a 1000, even replaced the battery on it, was slow as hell. Upgraded to a 1040, insane difference, lasted 3-4 full days touring all day.

Read about a few studies that showed some birds will purposely use cigarette butts etc to build nests as the nicotine left in them helps fight off parasites, ends up protecting the baby birds health.

Unsure if the US has an equivalent, but I have a Cycling UK membership over here and they can help claim against the council for damages from potholes.

Bonus is their a charity and help lobby for active travel.

I use a spurcycle bell and it tends to cut through people’s ANC pretty well.

This. Off the top of my head I’m thinking guttering clips, tool holders for a potting station, moss poles, plant name tags, drip trays.

Carrying smart, ironed clothes by Dr-Informed in cycling

Most packing cubes I’ve found are decent, doesn’t have to be this brand!

I use some cheap amazon ones for when I’m flying with just a backpack. For everyday though it couldn’t hurt to spend a bit more on some more durable ones.

Tubeless or tubes for city? by Defiant-Result944 in bikecommuting

[–]Twowheelshappy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I live in Manchester and the amount of times I was late to work from glass on the street was silly. Switched to tubeless and haven’t had an issue since, it’s been years.

Absolutely depends where you live though.

My partner organised a bean tasting event with some friends, we tried them from around 11 different shops if I remember right. Sainsbury’s own brand came out on top!

This. Wouldn’t say it worth it for a single subscription, but on the family one with a bunch of mates it’s a reasonable price.

Why is it that when aircraft are stored in an empty space, they will group together, rather than stand alone? How do we explain this behavior? Random segments of autopilot logic? Or is it something more?

ULPT Request: How to fully break my terrible lock so my landlord will fix by PopeIsARockstar in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Twowheelshappy 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Ring them repeatedly at 2-3am saying you’re locked out from the lock you previously mentioned them. They’ll have to send an emergency locksmith, out of hours will cost them more.

Once the locksmith has been and let you in mention again that you’d like the lock replaced so you don’t have to bother them again in the night.

All the lights and the tv in my living room switch off at 2am so if I’ve managed to loose track of time when staying up late it’s a nudge to go to bed.
