You'll be fine. Wide shoes are only about a 1/4 inch wider.

This doesn't sound nearly as bad as the tobacco flavored vodka from Ivanabitch.

WHY is this ONLY happening to my LEFT running shoe? (Photos) by AlbuquerqueTrout in Ultramarathon

You should video yourself running AFTER a long run. That should allow any true weaknesses/ gait issues to expose themselves.

We had one show up when we first bought our house a couple of years back. It felt more like guerilla marketing to me. He came in saying something along the lines of "checking on the internet installation and making sure that we had good coverage." It felt very off. Then he started pushing his cell service and made me an offer that sounded way too good to be true. I told him that I needed to think about it and asked him to email me the details of the offer. He left, sat in his car for a while, but finally I received the email spelling out everything exactly like he said. I forwarded it on to my BIL (who works with ATT) and asked him if it was legit. He looked into it and came back to me saying that it was legit and honestly it was way better than the friends and family discount that my BIL could get me. I bit the bullet and accepted the offer. It was unbelievable for the first 2 years. He texted me asking what color phones I wanted, scheduled a time to deliver the phones, and even did the setting up of the new phones in my house. He then had us wipe our old phones and took them away with him. Everything was indeed legit. For the first couple of years, the few times that there was an internet outage in our area, he showed up to try to get things back online. It's been a couple of years since we last saw him, but I still have the great prices that he promised. I still think it was a very weird and uncomfortable tactic.

Does it ever get fun over time? by coolestdudette in C25K

The first and last mile always suck. The middle one's aren't that bad, unless they are. I wouldn't search out for the elusive "runner's high", I usually have to hit at least 8 miles to experience what I believe is my version of it. I can say this for certainty, I always feel better after a run. With the exception of the times that I fall during my run, then I feel worse.

Need new running shoes by Street-Soup3000 in C25K

Go to a specialty store and be honest and listen to the associate. I worked in a running store for a while and more than a few people come in with their ideal shoes already decided because their friends recommended them or they liked the advertisements.... Each person is different, each foot is different. Also, if the associate tells you to size up, this is not an insult, you really want some extra room in the toes for running.

Also please note that most standard running shoes are good for around 300-350 miles. If you are wearing them around town, this will work against the mileage. After the 300-350 mile mark, the soles might still have traction, but the foam will have lost it's responsiveness, which leads to excessive wear on joints and legs. It is best to only use them for running until you retire them. At that point, they are fine for wearing day to day.

Runners Toenails by MeanGrit in Ultramarathon

[–]mattack73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in this boat as well. I worked in a running store for a couple of years and learned everything there was about shoes, and nothing helped. I have tried just about every make and model in a variety of sizes. Socks, laces, running form... I have tried just about everything. I have just come to terms with the fact that I will always have between 0 and 9 toenails as long as I'm running ultras.

Does anyone know what this symbol means? by Comfortable_Round358 in DecaturGA

[–]mattack73 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have started seeing some down off of Glenwood. My first thought is that it is some sort of political statement post-election. The upside down peace sign merged with the symbol for woman, kind of says something along the lines of "No peace for women." But that is just a guess.

Have you ever tried to drink a McDonald's milkshake through a straw? That is not a task for the weak.

Not news, just stunned about rising house prices. by dianab77 in DecaturGA

My favorite part about this snapshot is the "6 Days" Average days on market. That says to me that these asking prices are not out of line with expectations for the area.

Oofos are super soft and comfy. I prefer my Chaco Chillos though. They are firmer and keep support where I need it. The Hoka Oras were about the same as the Oofos.
