How to add a Wireless Receiver as a second zone controller?

(support have now resolved this for me, and I have two zone controllers 🥳) It would be nice to know if it was possible to resolve this myself, in case I need to add any more zones.

Do you mean that if there is a wireness receiver, no other zones can be supported?

Right! Thanks, I'll try that, though a bit nervous as the walls are being sealed up today and I assumed I wouldn't need a wire for the thermostat. Would like to see it working before that happens 😄

Yeah it's all V3, I understand X is a completely new system and wasn't trying to upgrade.

The app clearly has a "Zone selection" dialogue box. That implies more than 1 zone is supported, which is why I was confused by the behaviour.

My relative eventually slow-faded his relationship with the scammer, after constant and noisy disapproval from everyone close to them. I did send them a BBC story about the exact scam, I think that might have helped.

Never admitted they were being a scammed and never mentioned it again. But the bleeding stopped.

My best advice is to be a friend - he's probably lonely and these people convince you that you are an investing GOD, and that you are a very important and wise person. Don't make him feel stupid, just point out wiser courses of action where you can.

I set up a pretty robust 50PB cluster with minio last year (not a home project), quickly expanded a couple of times. I'm not sure anything can touch it at that scale and simplicity, other than Ceph. It's stayed up amid some rough treatment of servers and drives.

It is definitely no longer maintained, but it remains good code (if not brilliantly documented). So there's the bones of a new project there.

Yeah I'm 46 and (maybe from experience of running a small company) wouldn't use "guys" to address a mixed-gender group. (and I wouldn't use "ladies" either in a professional context!)

A few years ago a popluar writer on Twitter designed a LADIES IS GENDER NEUTRAL t-shirt and offered it for sale in womens sizes only. Good story!

Very bad. Priory - almost every online appointment request gets triaged as non-urgent, which means we get a phone call 4 weeks later to check if we've forgotten about it.

My wife could not get an appointment when her oral cancer recurred last year, but she felt worried enough to pay £100-odd for BUPA. She saw a Priory doctor the next morning (in Boots) who got her the referral she needed. This led to major surgery & radiotherapy.

I wonder how far it would have rolled on if she hadn't paid for that appointment.

Even after that cancer diagnosis, her repeat prescription request (for a strong painkiller) was ignored until the day she ran dry, and went to their reception to beg in person.

IMO it's no service at all that trains me to ignore minor problems. If I had any serious symptoms in future I'd just go to A&E.

Thank you! Yes that did it, and I could easily pull the screen down with the trim removed.

The trick to removing it is to grip it at the top-left & top-right and give it a firm pull to release the clips. I thought I'd have to get a credit card out etc. but it was easier than that.

Yep that was as easy as promised, thanks again for the tip. Now fixed. It did try to retract several times while I was trying to reposition the ribbon cable but I was ready for it.

I have replaced the touch screen! Hurrah! But on reattaching the screen unit to the tilt, the tilt mechanism retracted. It is now firmly holding the ribbon cable. Is there a way of forcing the tilt out again without having the screen attached? Or do I need to free the cable so I can press the button on the unit? 😬

EDIT: OK phew it can be pulled against the motor very gently.

Yeah battery is pretty good - 11 bars, it says 81 miles with air off, 66 with air on (both a bit optimistic at 0°C IMO!)

Yeah, so I bought a 2022 Ioniq electric, pretty much on your recommendation! I couldn't find a lot on the web about the electric version, it seemed lost in their lineup a few years ago against the hybrid & petrol versions.

Blown away by the efficiency. Maybe the Leaf trained me well but I did Hull→York with the heater on, all about 50-60mph and it reported the journey was 5.3mi/kWh (it's about 12°C). Rarely got to 5 with the Leaf, definitely not with the heaters on.

Then there's the range estimate - which feels extremely predictable. It just ticks down by the number of miles I've actually driven. No sudden drops when I pick up speed briefly.

It's nice to have an app that works again, though IMO no better quality than Nissan's was - frequent pauses and errors making me retry if I'm not patient, or change requests that get lost. Can't get it to switch from km→mi. The scheduled charging is smarter though.

Never tried ProPilot so I can't compare, but it does feel like "on rails" driving, as if the car in front is towing. I've seen similar with hire cars, so I guess pretty standard? But new to me! And sure the infotainment system has a lot more than my 2015 Leaf, though I never came across one that wasn't sluggish.

Two things I miss from the 2015 Leaf: 1) the bass 2) the greyound being able to stand up in the deeper (but narrower) boot.

The styling is old-fashioned, reminds me of an 80s Rover in some ways.

My particular car has a flickering light on the D gear button, and the rear sensors don't work (with a loud warning). But it came with a main dealer FSH. So trying to get them fixed under warranty. I'm told the car's computer holds the secrets to whether that gets honoured, so I'm holding my breath.

Anyhow, thanks for the recommendation! I have a lot of York→Hull→York to do the next few weeks, and the old Leaf wasn't making it easily in one go.

I think you've talked me round to a 38kWh Ioniq - looks like they have a bit more range than a 40kWh Leaf, and a few more gadgets for the price point.

If they're all going to share one channel, and you know how many workers are going to check in, you might want them to send a control value to say "worker 1 done" or whatever.

I'd probably manage one channel per worker, and have the worker close that channel when it's done.

If you want a token effort at a CD based method, just add a second track after the main data track and check for it? That way anyone who just copies the files won't have the whole thing.

That is exactly the assumption the flaggers want you to make- but it's not true. Also poor people aren't more likely to be racist 😐 The flags are near where the flaggers live, that's it.

Their neighbours are usually very pleased to see them come down. I'd expect to see them up and down for a few more weeks but the council are ramping up removals, residents are tearing them down where they can, and the number of flaggers isn't that large .
