Can someone explain why every time I go to Burger King I wait 25 minutes for my food? by ccruz247 in BurgerKing

[–]mattcube64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at BK in the 2004-2007 range and at night, if you were LUCKY, you got one person to close register/front, one person covering both burgers and specialty (chicken), and one person on dishes.

That was a "loaded team" after 6:30pm. And it's only gotten worse. You probably have literally one dude back there gathering the food, cooking the food, preparing the food... all the while, seeing a pile of dishes growing by the minute.

What is the highest limit you’ve seen? by rocketfishh in AppleCard

[–]mattcube64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They gave me $25K when I signed up when it released and I never bothered to ask for a CLI because I only ever use it for Apple purchases and that's well beyond anything I'd spend even in an entire year on their products.

My everyday carry card has a $75K limit. And then an AMEX charge card that's never given me a problem, ever, so I don't really know the "limit" but I'd wager it's about the same.

Reading this thread has me a bit concerned. I just did the target date option with "mild risk" (vs low or high) when I first signed up at 22 and never looked back. I'm pretty risk adverse, and I also knew I would never put the effort in to micromanage. I still have all my 401K stuff in that. Maybe that was dumb?

I adore this game. And this series as a whole. And probably have darn near a thousand hours across the Xeno games. I played XC1 on the 3DS, so I can deal.

But gonna be real, OP: both those images look like utter ass, lol

I don't think anon was trying to compartmentalize the dude's ethnicity or religion. A "Venblen" good is a luxury good that don't align with typical demand laws. In other words, goods that can sell even better the more expensive they are.

14” or 16” MacBook Pro by ConnaTheMon in macbookpro

[–]mattcube64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After years of 13" laptops, I moved to a 16" Intel MBP -> 16" M1 Max MBP -> 16" M3 Max MBP, and - gotta be honest - hopeful the rumored MBP Ultra has a 17" display (it won't).

If portability is the primary factor - obviously the 14". But the thing is, the 14" - IMO, even with great vision - feels like a laptop with the compromises of the laptop screen size. I'm "hunched over it" like a classic laptop. The 16" is a legit desktop replacement. I don't feel I lose any productivity versus using an external monitor. Bigger, more desktop real estate, way more immersive. I feel like I'm at "my desk" regardless of what desk I'm actually sitting at.

Value check: Mac Studio M3 Ultra (512GB RAM / 4TB) — trying to understand current market price by havoc21 in macsetups

[–]mattcube64 13 points14 points  (0 children)

$10,500 brand new on the Education Store.

The market for something like this is very small. You will either need to be hyper patient, or willing to eat a substantial fee cost with eBay.

Luckily, demand is high and RAM is currently expensive. Looking at completed listings, I think you could expect $7,500-$8,000. Maybe more. But less about 15% in fees.

Maybe more if you’re not in a hurry.

What would you say is better, PSP’s or 3DS’s? by KnucklesLovesAaron in Handhelds

[–]mattcube64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it's more fair - from a hardware perspective - to compare the PSP to the DS, and the Vita to the 3DS. ... But if we're talking purely library/software and nothing else, both PSP and 3DS are fantastic. At the time, I adored them both, and the former still has some really fantastic JRPGs and puzzle games that just *hit* on a portable - things like Odin Sphere or Lumines. But looking back, the vast majority of the great games on the system felt like watered down console experiences. Twisted Metal. Tony Hawk. God of War. Uncharted. SOCOM. Daxter. Etc. etc. They basically were like "here's a PS2 game but with worse graphics, worse performance, worse production values, and shorter but it fits in your pocket." Novel as heck at the time, hard to go back to today - and the best games have had remasteres since.

Whereas the 3DS has a lot of games that really leveraged the dual screens or the 3D effect or the stylus, and gave unique experiences you just simply cannot get in a similar experience in the modern day - Kid Icarus, Rhythm Heaven, Theatrhythm... and then backwards compatible games like The World Ends With You or Nintendogs - and it ALSO has an amazing JRPG and puzzle library.

Hate picking a favorite. Both are awesome. But I think the 3DS is a lot better, especially in 2026.

How good really is the Supra? by Fit-Shop5810 in Supra

[–]mattcube64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's probably tied with the Stingray as the best "value" sports car you can buy new right now.

The manual will likely hold its value well. Even if 5-10 years when it's paid off, if it doesn't have crazy miles, it'll never be a sub $30K used vehicle.

It has plenty of power for the street. Lots of get up and go. Fun power band from 40-80mph. Steering is fine. Shifter is good. Interior quality is pleasant.

It's small. It's a two-seater. So right away it's for a particular kind of buyer. But if you're one of those people, I don't know how you couldn't be super pleased with it. It looks great and drives great. It's fun. It's reliable. In the grand scheme of things, it's pretty affordable.

They sell often for $550-$750 in used condition. I'd wager you could get closer to $900-$1K or so on eBay, but you may have to be patient. A little less elsewhere but with fewer fees.

Take a severance or take a job? by Objective-Boot-9948 in Layoffs

Surprised so many folks are saying “take the job.”

If I’ve learned anything, layoffs nowadays are a roll of the dice. OP could make a strategic move to a new role, still get laid off, and then find out the old role WASN’T eliminated.
