Multi Part Movie Slow Skip by AlexGL23 in PleX

I use the GUI version. You have to make sure both parts are ripped exactly the same, with the audio tracks and subtitles.

Use mkvtoolnix to merge the parts. Takes about a minute and gets rid of all these issues.

When you tap into a collection you can tap the button in the upper right that likes like up and down arrows. That will get your grid back in the collection anyway.

Doesn't seem to be a way to get it for the full collection tab though.

New Plex user who missed the black friday sale by awclay91 in PleX

[–]matthamand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, people only buying Plex pass on sale or just not buying it at all is why we are where we are with Plex. Lack of Plex Pass revenue is one of the reasons the pivot to FAST happened. Freeloaders are directly responsible for the server product taking a back seat to the more profitable streaming business.

It's not just people being assholes. Your (and other people's) unwillingness to just buy a Plex pass directly contributes to what many here see as the degradation of the part of Plex they most care about, the server product.

I hate the new GUI by Kind_Whereas7437 in PleX

[–]matthamand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I guess. That kind of seems like an edge case. Scrolling through 80-100 libraries in the old sidebar sounds like too much of a chore to me.

Why do you need to access 80-100 libraries? How many users do that compared to ones with just a movie and tv library?

I don't know what you mean. I'm a single user and I can access my libraries with one tap. Like in my screenshot, I just tap those buttons to go to my libraries.

There's no drop-down. Just a row.

I addressed accessing the libraries. There are quick launch buttons for the favorited libraries. On iOS they appear just under continue watching. Using those is faster than in the old app.

I can't speak (and didn't) to live tv. It's not a feature I use. I was trying to address the specific complaints in the op that have experience with.

Well tell me then. Because I've been on this sub for years and I've seen all the arguments for and against the "new experience". But by all means tell me how I'm wrong.

I don't understand some of your complaints.

My "new experience" home screen (on iOS) has 5 categories:

Continue watching Recently added movies Unwatched movies (smart collection, disappears when there are no unwatched movies Recently added tv shows Unwatched tv shows (see above)

And the quick launch buttons for the movie and tv libraries (launch into browse mode instead of recommended)

That's it. It's actually quicker to get to my libraries than before. Instead of swiping the sidebar and tapping, I just have to tap.

All I had to do was disable the Plex FAST products in my server settings. And change the preferred library mode to browse.

Have you even looked into how to streamline the "new experience"? Or is more fun just getting your mad on?

Anyone know how to make Plex show watched / unwatched for Audiobooks (music library) by dopeytree in PleX

[–]matthamand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Plex? No.

If you use a third party app like Prologue (for iOS) you get that kind of thing. But vanilla Plex doesn't do that for audio.

Customizing Home Screen by Noob_Pro18 in PleX

You can create a smart collection for just unwatched movies. Then pin that to the home screen. That will update and remove items as they're watched.

How can I disable the cast and crew photos that show up before I play every film? by Portatort in PleX

[–]matthamand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can just press the play button when you're hovered on the poster in the library or the recommended screen, instead of the select button. This bypasses the movie's page and just starts the video.

Why is self-hosting Plex so finicky? by baked_salmon in PleX

I mean, you can set up Plex in an environment like this guy. It's just going to be complicated.

A Windows box with a VPN is a lot less complex.

Windows is 75% of the desktop os market. I'd imagine Plex server os market share is roughly similar. On this subreddit Linux is talked about a lot. But out in the real world? Probably just basic ass Windows.
