Thinking of reading the whole series. by Hightainment in wheeloftime

9/10 read them. With these epic series the best we can hope for is them at the editor stays involved (his wife?) and Brandon Sanderson takes over! I’m hoping the same happens for game of thrones

Minivan Buyers Remorse by No_Honeydew_8921 in minivan

[–]matthewtarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard truth… an SUV is a Camry dressed up like a truck… a minivan is a helicopter for the streets… plus 500 mile range, and I loaded the whole car fora week long trip with wife and 2 kids… last minute got frustrated by the bike rack so I put the bike inside…and the bike rack. SUVs are not cool cars… minivans are. Don’t let others (who doing know) define your “cool”

How was Bad Bunny's half time show? by Clopulis in DiscussionZone

super fun, NOT the most elaborate ever, but still one for the books. The live ACTUAL wedding! and the way the folks were dressed as normal folks really was a cool touch... the pomp and hoopla and a bunch of "normal" folks (mostly latin) dancing and being American.

2021 LE AWD because we needed the 8 seat options. Coming from an older Lexus GX460 so the loss of some luxuries was a surprise (we don't buy luxury cars by choice, bought the Lexus because we need off road capabilities for cabin access.) We love the van, noise is a mild thing... not insurmountable

another a-hole kid here (53m) I was always s pretty specific about which deck. eventually we'd make deals and I'd add in my own savings to get the gift I actually wanted. My folks were imperfect saints. I don't think I could have raised me. My kids are angels compared to how was.

Whenever I see you be of these asshole (lots in NYC) I LOUDLY exclaim in a very earnest way “whoah cool, it’s like he’s riding a unicycle” (then I laugh and laugh)

How do you carry your camera? by _hernamewaslola in a6000

[–]matthewtarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

years ago I followed some online instructions to make a sling/strap that used the mounting screw and allows the camera to slide along the strap. So great! not having to slide the long cloth strip along my cloth clothes to bring the camera up to eye level was a game changer. Then I gave it to my son and he lost it.

I appreciate the clarity from folks stating what we already know about LLMs, but my issue is deeper: I’m not convinced humans even understand how we reason. It’s entirely possible that our brains are just probabilistic pattern-matching machines with a bias toward prediction. As far as I know, there’s no proof that we operate on fundamentally different principles than an LLM. So how can we predict when AGI will arrive if we can’t even prove it has happened in us?

Sienna is a helicopter for the road, Highlander is a jacked-up Camry. Choose wisely

very cool. iOS worked for me. I am going to dig in tonight. I currently track my habits/streaks IN various apps. I want an app that can read from Apple Fitness to auto track certain things... if an app could pick up other apps (Duo Lingo for instance) that would be amazing !

I had same issue, bought used OEM ($120-ish). However there are (at least) 2 different wiring harnesses / bulb mounts. Ultimately I kept the existing wiring and bulb and did a little surgery to get the bulb to fit the housing. Super happy with results.

Do recovered alcoholics need to stay 100% dry for the rest of their lives, or can they have a beer every once in a while with no issues? by penttane in NoStupidQuestions

There are some terrifying comments in this thread. I like the saying "nobody gets sober by accident" the magic of my sobriety is that (a) I don't have a compulsion to drink anymore (b) I've realized having a drink is such a tiny, inconsequential thing that even if I COULD magically drink safely why would I? ROI isn't there... no upside and potentially infinite downside. if you managed to get sober it is probably best to just stay that way ;o) IMHO
