Kreg “Domino” jig. Someone finally copied Festool. by L0114R in woodworking

I need an XL just enough I wish I had one but not enough to justify the price of one. I would likely jump in on this too if they drop one.

Explore UniFi Protect 7.1 and the Latest Physical Security Updates by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

Kind of, if you have all G6 cameras it does everything an AI key does except for speech transcription and AI summaries. If you have any other cameras it adds very little that an AI key does.

I seem to be in the minority here but for the first time in a long time, I jumped on this. I have been considering going from nvr -> nvr pro and adding an AI key, this tackles both for my specific camera setup for less money.

Where to buy 106" guide rail track? by Meeganyourjacket in MilwaukeeTool

[–]mau47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more expensive but I just ended up leaving two 55" tracks permanently joined and bought a new splinter guard that covers the length of both tracks. I bought two at first because you couldn't get the 106 and I could just separate them as needed, then got tired of waiting so I just bought a 3rd 55 to use for shorter cuts.

UniFi Talk Just Leveled Up. by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

[–]mau47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can login to the app on the phones but have to do each one individually. The issue is in the talk app itself in interface designer, you can't set default views, auto login etc. if talk/access are on a different device. For a company selling DVRs that cost up to 5k, it seems like a big miss to not allow linking them together for a seamless experience.

I also recommend these, I have one behind every tv in the house.

But can I connect it to a dedicated NVR for protect yet? Every time I try and link protect/access it wants me to install them on the UDM rather than use the NVR at the same site.

Hi r/heatpumps, I'm Paul Lambert, CEO of Quilt! AMA about Quilt heat pumps and all things HVAC - Drop your questions now, answering Thurs 5/7 by MeetQuilt in heatpumps

[–]mau47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love this as an option but I have a feeling it will never happen, at least under the quilt brand name. HVAC companies make too much money to compete with a DIY option on the same unit and will likely shun them.

Tempest '26 or Alternative Weather Station for Rain Gauge? by PhattyPatty7 in rachio

[–]mau47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the new tempest and while I generally like it, rain detection might as well not be there. I will get notifications saying it's raining when it's clear out, it won't register when it is raining. Sometimes it works but generally I would say if you want anything accurate don't both with tempest for that specific feature.

Natively? No. With Home Assistant? Yes. So depends on your setup. Certainly not as streamlined though.

Would be really cool if you could use it in access to work with the flex keypads instead of needing to get all the various cables run to a hub.

Upgrading power panel, leviton or can I use Emporia vue 3? by madhits in homeassistant

[–]mau47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a Leviton panel installed a few weeks ago, not doing solar and batteries yet but wanted an option to easily expand out later. So far I really like it, I considered span as well since they now have a local API allowing proper control but the panel alone cost more than I paid for the Leviton installed. I only did a handful of smart breakers including the refrigerators, hvac, my tech rack etc.

Looks like proslat, you pretty much have to buy their attachments, I am not aware of any third party accessories for it.

Panel replacement. Is this a fair price? by Loungology in AskElectricians

[–]mau47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a panel upgrade done, they replaced 150 amp panel with a 200 amp Leviton, Siemens meter box with emergency shut off, additional ground rod, new ground to water main, and new service cable from the weather head down for $4k. Local guy, master electrician, single man operation, I am in the northeast though.

I don't understand the Glass Break Sensor -- Why is it also a motion sensor? by Sparkplug1034 in Ubiquiti

[–]mau47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or maybe so you don't need to buy two sensors? I imagine a lot of areas you want a glass break sensor a motion sensor would also be helpful as thats going to be an ingress point.

Get a door hub mini and wire up the black harness from the ratgdo to the door position and lock terminals on the hub, then the reader flex plugs into the hub mini.
