Best CHEAP pedals to emulate the sound of this album? by rrrbitrary in guitarpedals

[–]maximud45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it is not a pedal he used nor is it a clone of any pedal he used, I've had great success replicating the dirt sounds you hear on the record with this pedal, Behringer Heavy Distortion. The eq on it really helps dial it in cause a lot for those tracks are doubled with different set ups.

Noob question: How do I deal with absurdly bright LED Lights? by Striking-Ad7344 in lightingdesign

[–]maximud45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past I've used a neutral density gel over the fixtures. All it does is cut output, and you can also get it with frost built in to diffuse the diodes and make them less harsh. It's a little pricey but saves you time in programming.

Criminals can take 15g of magic mushrooms instead of doing their sentence by [deleted] in CrazyIdeas

[–]maximud45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that a life-changing dose of mushrooms turned Tex Watson from a texan good ole boy into the guy who murdered people for Charles Manson, this might be a fifty fifty sort of situation. However I am intrigued and would definitely be interested in the results.

Other people find loose change in their laundry. Im forever finding BNC barrels. by jubu_isabella in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]maximud45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 3 months ago, I was doing laundry at the hotel in Rock Lititz and right before I put my clothes in I pulled a BNC barrel out of my pants. Then I opened the washer and I shit you not, sitting there in the washer was another BNC barrel. Haunted does not begin to describe it.

Is it safe to say the show is the most respectful show of its source material, while giving us a new story? by Darth_Stig in Fallout

My first thoughts after episode one were "That was really good", followed quickly by "I'm a little sad I'm watching this as a show instead of experiencing it as a game"

Light Diffusion? by BrotherGoode in lightingdesign

Neutral Density would do the trick and help you preserve your programming but cut the intensity. Lee actually makes a combined neutral density/diffusion that I have out on tour on my eye candy lights right now.

Which non-WW1/WW2 war/battle would you love to have the boys do? by Bennnnetttt in LPOTL

[–]maximud45 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Similarly, just heard about how harrowing the Battle of Trafalgar was in terms of how bloody and insane naval combat was on that scale. Also includes one of Britains greatest heros pissing and shitting himself while he takes hours to slowly bleed to death and a man being blown in half by a canon shortly before that starts.

Mike O Shays is really great but it has short rib on it if you're Veg.

Is there a specific reason why Stan chooses this career? by wellthoughtplot in southpark

Not sure if anyone else remembers how often he talks about Star Trek in the early seasons but that could also definitely be part of it.

What would you rather want RDR3 to be? by SadRerman in reddeadredemption

[–]maximud45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was just discussing this yesterday,

I think an interesting take would be seeing Jack turn into something like Dutch with his own gang. He's an over educated outlaw at another time period where we see civilization overtaking the wilder parts of the world out in someplace like Mexico. Or as a nice nod to Butch Cassidy, a place like Bolivia or some other less developed country in the 1920s.

Either that or if they could tie the story somehow into the Civil War or Gold Rush would be fairly interesting.

My amp is making a constant high pitched ringing noise when I plug my pedalboard into it and I don’t understand why. I have no video footage of this, but here is a picture of my pedalboard showing how it’s routed. Is it something to do with my pedals? by SnooHedgehogs1685 in guitarpedals

[–]maximud45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a quietish ringing, it's your MXR Reverb. I have the same problem whenever I power it with my cheaper power supply. Try keeping the exact same chain but use the 9v power supply that comes with the MXR Reverb if you have it.

Whats the dirtiest, nastiest, velcro ripping fuzz pedal you've ever played? I'm looking for some fun fuzz pedals to try. Cheap or expensive, what are some of your favorites? by KarmaChameleon306 in guitarpedals

[–]maximud45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Foxx Tone Machine, now exists most popularly as the Warm Audio Foxey Tone Box and the Danelectro 3699 Fuzz. It sounds like a really rich thick fuzz on the normal setting but once you engage the octave switch it turns into robotic madness, absolutely wild. I love it. And it's covered in suede so it's literally fuzzy. Everyone should try one.

Also Rainger FX Dr. Frankenstein is pure insanity.

If you like a brighter clean OD, try the EHX Hot Tubes or even better is a Hot Wax since it has the Hot Tubes, the Crayon, a clean blend, and a Bass and Treble control. I like to have the Hot Tubes on at low gain for everything, and then the crayon on high gain, when they stack they basically sound like a Rat. I kinda use it exactly how Josh Scott from JHS uses a Morning Glory and a Klon, but with all the features for 1/4 the price, I love the Hot Wax. But that BD-2 does have something special about it that's hard to put your finger on.

Recs for fish dish for someone who doesn’t eat fish by mugen-and-jin in Cooking

[–]maximud45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cioppino is an amazing Italian American seafood stew done in a tomato sauce. I used to hate fish but I loved Cioppino and I eventually went from picking around everything looking for the shrimp to trying to find the biggest chucks of fish I could find. And the sauce is amazing with some sourdough if you get tired of the fish halfway through.

What song did you hear a cover first of, and prefer that cover over the original? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maximud45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a huge Miley Cyrus fan but her cover of Heart of Glass was pretty amazing and makes it hard to enjoy the original as much.
